Sycamore Springs: Cumberland River rainbow a beautiful sight Click on headline for story plus 2 photos By Cindy Meyer Saturday afternoon we took a short ride down Burkesville way, to the Bluegrass Festival, and eat some good food. While we were there you could see rain coming in the distance; however only the few sprinkles that arrived were not enough to dampen the spirits of the musicians. In the wake of the distant shower one of the most beautiful rainbows I have ever seen appeared on the horizon. Most attending agreed it was indeed unusual probably caused by the rain and fog coming off the Cumberland River. 2009-09-20 21:32:53 | Comments | Printable version

Carol Perkins: Worry Wart When Guy Perkins married our author, nee' Carol Sullivan, he had so idea he'd married 'a worried wart,' she says. The next earlier Carol Perkins story is What Page? By Carol Perkins Worry Wart "Why don't you go on to bed," Guy would say as the clock ticked toward time for one of the kids to be home. "You sitting up waiting isn't going to make any difference in whether or not they get home." How he was able to crawl into bed, pull up the covers, and fall fast asleep when one of our teenage children was out was puzzling. Someone had to be the designated worrier, so I appointed myself. Mayor tobacco setter would have been heavy to push About: Next scheduled hanging: Former Mayor with tobacco setter photo scheduled to be hung in Ol' Joe's B&B Que To ColumbiaMagazine.com: I know all the folks from the good old days were leaner, meaner, and tougher than we softies are today, but I sure hope there was a mechanism for hooking up a horse or mule to this contraption. Rev. Joey N. Welsh: Being first, at least for awhile ANOTHER ANGLE: the occasional musings of a Kentucky pastor. Previously posted September 17, 2006 By The Rev. Joey N. Welsh joey_n_welsh@hotmail.com BEING FIRST, AT LEAST FOR AWHILE All of the synoptic Gospels, Matthew, Mark and Luke, contain Jesus teaching that the human view of rank and status is seldom the divine outlook. According to Matthew 19:30, many who are first will be last, and many who are last will be first. (NIV) The context in Matthew 19 is the story of the rich young ruler who went away in sadness after Jesus had asked the young man to leave behind his wealth and follow as a disciple. Jesus subsequent teachings in that chapter about status and possessions end with verse 30. In Matthew 20 the parable of the workers in the vineyard concludes with verse 16: So the last will be first, and the first will be last."
