Adair Co. Medication Disposal Program is Friday, Sept. 18, 2009

There will be a Medication Disposal Program on Friday, September 18, 2008, between 1:00 and 5:00pmCT on Jamestown Street between the new Chamber of Commerce Gazebo and the Jamestown Street Bank of Columbia branch.

The program is sponsored by the following Adair County agencies:
  • The Adair County Judges Offices
  • The Adair County Solid Waste Management Program
  • The Adair County Coroners Office
  • The Adair County Sheriff's Office
  • The Adair County Ambulance Service
The program is open to all Adair County residents; proper ID is required.

Four Area McDonald's restaurants promote GED attainment

From KY Council on Postsecondary Education

McDonald's of Central and Southeastern Kentucky has partnered with Kentucky Adult Education for a fourth year in a row to encourage GED attainment in an innovative in-store promotion funded by the restaurant owners.

The GED promotion is underway in Adair, Anderson, Bath, Bourbon, Boyle, Breathitt, Casey, Clark, Clay, Clinton, Estill, Fayette, Franklin, Garrard, Harrison, Jessamine, Knox, Laurel, Lincoln, Madison, Mercer, Metcalfe, Montgomery, Pendleton, Powell, Pulaski, Rockcastle, Rowan, Russell, Scott, Wayne, Whitley and Woodford counties.

Lindsey Wilson College student Token Percell received a rude awakening Wednesday morning.Shortly before 7:00amCT, Percell sprang out of his bed when he heard fire alarms, people speaking through bullhorns and fists pounding on doors.

"I didn't know what it was at first," said Percell, a freshman from Bowling Green, KY. Then he realized the occasion for stirring students shortly after dawn. It was Malvina Farkle Day on Lindsey Wilson's A.P. White Campus.

Benefit for Anna Hall at VFW Hall, Sept. 19, 2009

There will be a benefit including a meal, bingo, silent auction, and corn toss tournament, for Ms. Anna Hall at the VFW Hall, 411 Fairground ST, Columbia, KY, with events starting at 12:00 noon September 19, 2009. Anna Hall will be seeking medical treatment at Mayo Clinic in Minnesota. Anna is the daughter of Jim Hall and Debbie Yarberry and is the granddaughter of Louise Irvin Miller and Orby and Geneva Yarberry.
