Obituary: Clarene Kelsay, 55, Adair Co., KY

She was a member of a respected East Adair Co., KY family and was on the staff of Summit Manor in Columbia, KY for several years. She was a member of the Free Union Separate Baptist Church

Clarene Kelsay, 55 years, of 195 Wheat Road, Columbia, Ky. passed away Saturday, September 12, 2009 at 8:00amCT at her home after an illness.

Funeral service will be Monday, September 14, 2009, at 1:00pmCT, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg ST, Columbia, KY with Bro. Casey Davis the officiating clergy.Interment in Freedom Cemetery, on Freedom Church RD, Adair Co., KY. Visitation is after 4:00pmCT, Sunday, September 13, 2009, at the funeral home.

Adair Co. Football vs. Metcalfe County Friday, Sept. 18, 2009

PRINTABLE 2009 SCHEDULE

The Adair County High School Football plays its third game on the road at Edmonton, KY, when they meet Metcalfe County High School, 208 Randolph ST, Edmonton, KY with a chance to move their record into the winning territory. Metcalfe County goes into the Friday game with one win out of four starts.

Coach Eric Graves' Indians have outscored opponents 91-86 in the four games thus far this season.

The Indians are now 2 and 2 after losing to Breckinridge County in a home game, 15-8. The Indians started the season with two victories before still unbeaten Monroe County spoiled the perfect season before home crowd on Friday, September 4, 2009.

GRL crappie fishing guide David Jones on KET today, tomorrow

Segment with Gradyvillian was flimed in Adair Co., KY

A segment of the "Kentucky Afield" tonight will feature Green River Lake Fishing Guide David Jones showing host Tim Farmer how real fishermen get incredible crappie catches at the lake. The show will be broadcast tonight Saturday, September 12, 2009, at 7:30pmCT/8:30pmET and again tomorrow, Sunday, September 13, 2009, at 2:00pmCT/3:00pmET on KET 1.

The visit to Green River Lake, in addition to the great crappie catch, included a thrilling moment when the party almost landed a huge Green River muskellunge--but the four-pound test crappy line wasn't enough to land the monster.

CU dialogue on issues to feature Lonnie Turner, Dr. Toby

Campbellsville University's "Dialogue on Public Issues" will feature Lonnie Turner, a CU graduate who is a field personnel for Cooperative Baptist Fellowship, and Dr. John Mark Toby, president of the Kentucky Baptist Convention and pastor of Beacon Hill Baptist Church in Somerset, KY, for shows during the next two weeks.

Turner's show will air Sunday, Monday and Wednesday, September 13, 14 and 16, 2009 on TV-4, Comcast Cable Channel 10.

Rainbow Trout Creel Limit doubled in Cumberland Tailwater

Better fishing for Russell, Cumberland, Monroe Counties. Kentucky Fish and Wildlife's fisheries division recently stocked 20,500 rainbow trout at Wolf Creek Dam, Helms Landing, Winfrey's Ferry and Crocus Creek

From KY Fish & Wildlife

FRANKFORT, KY - Anglers may now keep an additional five rainbow trout for a total of 10 rainbow trout daily on the Cumberland River from Wolf Creek Dam to the Tennessee state line. This measure includes Hatchery Creek and all tributaries up to the first riffle. The 15- to 20-inch protective slot limit on rainbow trout remains in effect. One of the 10 rainbow trout in the daily creel may be 20 inches or longer.The 20-inch minimum size limit and one fish daily creel limit on brown trout also remains in effect.

State Police Targeting Aggressive

Drivers in Kentucky can expect to see heightened enforcement on Interstates 65 and 75 over the next few weeks. The KSP Commercial Vehicle Enforcement (CVE) Division launched the final of three waves planned for the 'Ticketing Aggressive Cars and Trucks' (TACT) campaign.

Officers will be on the road, looking for drivers who show risky driving behavior around big rigs. Enforcement corridors include north and south-bound lanes on Interstate 75 (I-75), ranging from exit 76 through 129 and Interstate 65 (I-65) from exit 58 through 94. Counties targeted by the TACT campaign include Bullitt, Fayette, Hart, Madison and Scott.

The ARC of Lake Cumberland helps individuals, with intellectual and/ or developmental disabilities. We are also a United Way program. The poker run will be Saturday September 12, 2009. Registration will begin at the Science Hill Church of the Nazarene, 600 Stanford ST, Science Hill, KY, at 9:00amET with the ride beginning at 11:00ET. The ride will cover our 10 county area, and will be approximately 100 miles. There will be a $20.00 per bike entry fee. Prizes for top four hands, and worst hand.
