Humane small animal trap, green vegetables advised for iguana

About: Adair County, KY, woman needs help

To ColumbiaMagazine.com:

I contacted my son in Florida who does rescue for reptiles. His advice is to use a humane small animal trap. Bait it with Hibiscus or green vegetables like lettuce or peas.

Do NOT try to pick the Iguana up. While they can bite it's the tail that you need to be careful of. Even a small Iguana can leave a very nasty welt with a well aimed flick of his tail.

I have both a trap and the hibiscus if you need them - I don't however want the lizard.

From the Tractor Seat: Advice on finding lost iguana

About: Adair County, KY, woman needs help

To ColumbiaMagazine.com:

Tell the woman to go out on the porch, sit in a rocking chair, opena beer, make noises like an iguana and drink the beer. If that doesn't work, she should drink more beers until the iguana shows its ugly head!

Seriously, now: Iguanas love hibiscus blooms and they are probably just as fond of Rose of Sharon blooms which are in the same family. If she has access to some blossoms, tell her to put a small pile inside the cage and maybe one or two at the entrance to the cage. Might work.

Wants to know more about Julia Miller Horton

Information needed for re-dedication ceremony, at 1:00pmCT, Thursday, September 17, 2009

To ColumbiaMagazine.com:

Does anyone out there know anything about Julia Miller Horton? Why did her husband have a rose garden put in for her? Did she have any children? Is there any family living in this area? Where was she born? When did she die and from what? How old was she when she died? These are questions I have been asking since we have been restoring the rose garden that was put in to honor her at the Trabue house by her husband. No one working on the garden seems to know anything. If there is someone that knows anything about this rose garden lady we,would like to know before September 17, 2009, when, at 1:00pmCT, we re-dedicate the rose garden.

Thanks.

Eighth ranked Lancers top LWC Women's Soccer 3-1

Blue Raiders remain in California for match tonight with Azusa Pacific

By Dan White, Asst. LWC Sports Information Director

AZUSA, Calif. - A goal by freshman midfielder Julia Persson in the game's final minutes wasn't enough to overcome California Baptist University's two first-half scores as Lindsey Wilson College dropped a 3-1 decision to the Lancers on Thursday, August 27, 2009.

Third ranked Lindsey Wilson (1-1-0) fell behind early when California Baptist (2-0-0) sophomore midfielder Kylee Nicassio scored the first of her two goals in the ninth minute.

Thanks, emergency responders, for help find missing child

To ColumbiaMagazine.com:

Just wanted to say "Thank You" to everyone at the Columbia Police Department, Adair County SAR, Emergency Management, Adair County 911, family, friends, and anyone else that assisted with the location of our son who slipped off to a friend's after getting off the school bus on Thursday afternoon. As parents, we immediately suspected that he was at friend or neighbor's home, but we were unable to locate him.

Calling everyone we knew turned up nothing. After a nearly 2 hour search and endless phone calls, knocks on doors, and tears of dismay, he was found safe and sound. The prompt and attentive response from our city and county agencies has reaffirmed my longheld belief in the capabilities of our emergency responders. Thanks again.

s/Eric and Charlotte Hare
