Drawings set for waterfowl blind drawings at GRL, other areas

Drawing will be Saturday, September 26, 2009; at Green River Lake Corps of Engineers Office, Campbellsville, KY; for Barren River, drawing is October 3, 2009 Corps office at the dam.

Frankfort, Ky. - Dates are now set for the waterfowl blind drawings for Doug Travis, Lake Barkley, Green River Lake, Sloughs and Barren River Lake Wildlife Management Areas (WMAs). Those hunters interested in participating in the waterfowl blind drawing must be at least 18 years of age and possess a valid 2009 Kentucky hunting license, a Kentucky waterfowl permit and a Federal migratory bird permit (duck stamp) at the time of the drawing.

Mr. Compton as a member of a large, respected family of South Adair and Eastern Metcalfe Counties

Rural Houston Compton, 67, passed away Sunday, August 16, 2009.

The funeral service for Rural Houston Compton will be Thursday, August 20, 2009, at 11:00amET at Schoppenhorst, Underwood & Brooks Funeral Home, 4895 North Preston Hwy. Shepherdsville, KY (Preston Hwy. at Brooks Rd.). Interment in Brookland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00pmET until 8:00pmET on Wednesday, August 19, 2009 at the funeral home.

The ACHS Boy's Golf Team has another strong outing

Adair Co. places fourth in 20 team field. Charles Breeding has best score with a 75, to place 7th among individual players. Next match Tuesday at The Pines, vs. Marion Co. High School.

AC Cattlemen's Association receives $200,00 cost-share funds

C.A.I.P. (County Agricultural Investment Program). Applications from individuals seeking funds are being taken from September 1 until September 15, 2009: for investment areas including commercial production of aquaculture, bees/honey, equine, forage, fruit, livestock, mushrooms, ornamental horticulture, poultry, rabbits, timber, and vegetables, as well as agritourism business development, commercial kitchen construction/conversion, energy efficiency/production, and on-farm water enhancement

    Aces Baseball team champion 2009 Starr Wooden Bat Classic

    The Aces Baseball team, a 13 year old and under traveling team, consisting of players from Adair, Marion and Russell counties are the champions of the 2009 AD Starr Wooden Bat Classic.

    The tournamnet was held in Harrodsburg, KY this past weekend. The Aces were a perfect 4-0 during the tournaments, outscoring their opponents 40-5.

    Aces Baseball members include David Streeval, Kel Stotts, Grant Best, Trevor Willis, Colton Back, Zack Hutchison, Jacob Pooler, Cody Mcelroy, Mason Burton, Cody Yates, Robbie Spalding, Dillon Wilkerson, Coach Chad Bivens, Coach Rob Wilkerson, Coach Dennis Yates, and Coach Mark Hutchison.

    Columbia Police make meth arrrest on Burkesville ST.

    A Columbia woman was arrested on Sunday, August 16, 2009, by Columbia Police on meth charges afer a traffic stop on Burkesville ST.

    Elisah Bunch, 30, Columbia, KY, was arrested and lodged in the Adair County Jail and charged with possession of a controlled substance 1st degree (methoamphetamine), possession of a controlled substance 2nd degree, and publlic intoxication.

    The arrest was made by Columbia Pollice Sgt. Jason Cross who was assisted by CPD Oficer Kevin Atwood and Deputy Sheriff Charles Greer.

    ACHS Senior Portrait Make-ups August 18, 2009

    Make-ACHS up pictures for ACHS seniors who did not have their senior portraits taken during the summer will be taken on Tuesday, August 18, 2009. This is the last opportunity for seniors to have their picture taken in order to appear in the 2010 yearbook. Only the formal yearbook picture will be taken. No outside or casual shots will be made.
