Remembers Mrs. Ruth Thomas teaching at Pigtail School

About: Little Cake album: Hilda Smith sends wonderful old school photos

    To ColumbiaMagazine.com:

When I was a little girl there was no kindergarten, so Mrs. Ruth Thomas would let me come to school and play with her daughter Ann Thomas. At that time she was teaching at what we called Pigtail, which is now Hutchison Community Church.

In first grade there she was also teaching there. She taught from first grade throught eighth grade all in one room. I remember Tommy Edwards and myself were the only two in the first grade.

She was a wonderful teacher. I believe the year was 1953. After that year the schools were consolidated together. We were then moved to Cane Valley. I believe if i am correct.

Mrs. Thomas still lives in Columbia. Thank you.

    s/Alice Smith Robinson
