Sighting possibly of lost Coburg area black lab

About: Lost black lab wearing red shock collar

To ColumbiaMagazine.com:

I spotted a black lab mix with a red collar today on Bull Run this morning, and then this afternoon saw him again near the Fairgrounds on Fairground Street. He looked very friendly but appeared to be lost. Honestly dont remember if the dog I saw had a bobbed tail or no. Hope you find him.

Carol Perkins: The Shoe

Her uncle's roommate seem stand-offish, at first, but it wasn't until after leaving the hospital with a feeling she had not been enough of a good Samaritan did she learn the whole story in this wonderful, must read, O Henry wishes he'd written it, short story

The Shoe

The elderly man in the other bed turned his back when we came into the hospital room to visit my uncle after his appendectomy. This was the second roommate in five days, but this one was a real iceberg. The curtain between the two was pulled half way, but he was visible.

Great Food at Tall Grass Estates: Sweet Pepper Soup and Waldorf Salad, makes author conclude he never had it so good.

Have you noticed that some people are chronic complainers? And yes, we even have them at Tallgrass Estates. They bitch about things like Oklahoma sunsets (too orangy) or daylight savings time (we already have too much sun for the roses).

Jennifer Crawhorn: Happiness on a shoestring

"I have my heart on a string, a shoestring. We live from paycheck to paycheck. And we are forever on a shoestring budget. But I've learned that shoestring can be stronger that any steel in the world. Because it supports the most precious thing, my loved ones." -Jennifer Crawhorn

I think many of us have been there. It's called denial and I'm not talking about a river in Egypt.

That time in our lives when where ever we look we feel like saying "Why Me" or "Not Again"

I felt like I'd been living there for the last few years. I was constantly saying if I could just get these bills paid off I'd be happy. If I could just get us a house that doesn't seem like it's falling down around us, I'd be happy.

Rev. Joey N. Welsh: July 30, 2006. Dairy Queen

ANOTHER ANGLE: the occasional musings of a Kentucky pastor
Dairy Queen and surpassed expectations
Reposted from earlier posting on CM on July 30, 2006.

By The Rev. Joey N. Welsh
E-mail: joey_n_welsh@hotmail.com
I often quote poets and hymn writers when I write my column. For today I'm going to quote someone else, me.

This is the text of an e-mail I sent to my congregation and some friends on July 7, after I thought over some things that had occurred in church on Sunday, July 2. The Gospel lesson I am using in church today, July 30, 2006 is John 6:1-21. The passage includes John's narrative of the feeding of the 5,000.

Robert Stone: My Father Who Died Young When I Was Young

Poetry: A Sonnet
My Father Who Died Young When I Was Young -a sonnet by- Robert Stone

Strange what causes us to write a poem. What actually set me to writing this one was a blog post by Steven on his trip to Scotland. He says, "I'm sitting here with an excellent (albeit ridiculously expensive) Punch Exclusivo Reino Unido, and a glass of scotch. The former is from Cuba, and he latter is from right here in Edinburgh." -Robert H. Stone, Jul. 21, 2009 at 7:55pmCT

My Father Who Died Young When I Was Young
by Robert H. Stone
I don't remember my own father much.
He died before my fourteenth year was done.
With older folk he had a gentle touch,
with younger ones he joined in simple fun.

We asked for toys we did not really need
and many times he bought our hoped for joys.
One Christmas bubble lights he heard us plead
and soon the shimmers mixed with playful noise.

I think if only I could know much more
but wonder then if more would sadden me.
A life that spends its force on things before
is wasting openings for what can be.

Reality, away from me keep far
and end your day with whiskey and cigar.

The Island at the Center of the World

One principle of history is that the winners get to write the books. Nowhere is this more evident than in the colonial history of New York and its predecessor Nieu Amst erdam on the island of Manhattan.
