Tommy Yacht great idea-he'd love to own one!

About:Tommy Yacht great example of entrepreneurship

To ColumbiaMagazine.com:

I agree wholeheartedly with Lee Ann Jessee's and Doug McCammish's comments on Majestic Yacht's Tommy Boat. When I saw those photos I immediately thought, "I'm not at all surprised that instead of grumbling about the economy and quitting. Jim Hadley thought about it and came up with a winning idea."

I also thought I'd like to own a Tommy Boat. What a great idea from a creative person. Sometimes the good guys do win, especially if they are hard workers!

Some KY Countrywide borrowers to get payments

From Office of KY Attorney Gen. Jack Conway

Attorney General Jack Conway today announced that some Kentucky consumers who had home mortgage loans with Countrywide Mortgage Company will be able to make claims beginning this week as part of the settlement agreement with Countrywide over allegations of predatory lending practices.

As part of the settlement agreement, Countrywide Mortgage established a nationwide fund of $150 million to provide loan modifications to assist up to 395,000 borrowers. Notices are being sent to more than 1,000 Countrywide Mortgage borrowers in Kentucky notifying them of their eligibility to share in the $1.64 million designated from the fund for the state. Only Countrywide Mortgage borrowers whose homes were foreclosed upon within 12 months of entering into the mortgage are eligible for this Foreclosure Relief Program.

South historically had more extremes on alcohol use

About: Biggest factor in alchohol abuse not wet or dry

To ColumbiaMagazine.com

I don't know if it is still true but historically the South has had more extremes in its alcohol consumption: many people who completely abstain and a group of people who "drank to get drunk" on a regular basis.
Traditionally, in other parts of the country there were more moderate drinkers.

I didn't know that dry counties still existed until I moved here. I always figured that the main function of a dry county was that there were no legal sales of alcohol in restaurants and there were no bars.

Biggest factor in alchohol abuse not wet or dry

Thinks edge on abuse may be in dry counties, but thinks the big factor is upbringing - family teaching - is more of a factor in alcohol abuse than whether county is wet or dry

By Bobby D. Morrison
International Management & Engineering Consultant

I've been watching the debate on dry, moist or wet on Columbia Magazine for many months.

As you know, I have worked and lived around the world and throughout the USA. I tried to think of the dry places I have worked or lived. About the only place is Adair County. I haven't observed abuse of being wet in the many places I have been.

I think I have observed more abuse in dry locations. In countries like Honduras anyone of any age can buy as long as they have the money, no age limit.
