Gov. Beshear publicly signs historic preservation incentives bill

From Commonwealth News Center

BOWLING GREEN, KY - Standing before an historic preservation project in Bowling Green, Gov. Steve Beshear took part in a bill signing ceremony for House Bill 3, which includes added incentives for historic preservation in Kentucky.

"This legislation will encourage citizens, businesses and local governments to continue to work to preserve Kentucky's great history," Gov. Beshear said. "We want to help Kentucky communities and businesses use historic structures so we can keep our downtowns vibrant while at the same time preserving the past."
The legislation brought about changes to the Kentucky Historic Preservation Tax Credit Program, which is administered by the Kentucky Heritage Council/State Historic Preservation Office. The key change was increasing the cap on tax credits the program offers from $3 million to $5 million a year.

Theatre: Tuna Fourth a reunion of ties that bind and loosen

Review by Robert Stone

Potato salad is one of my favorite things. How can I not like a play where it is a main character?Red, White, and Tuna opened at Kentucky Repertory Theatre in Horse Cave, July 3. Writers-actors Joe Sears and Jaston Williams have been touring this third installment in the Tuna Saga (Greater Tuna, A Christmas Tuna, RW&T, Tuna Does Vega) since 1998. Ed Howard is the third writer.

Henry Haggard and Robert Brock divide up citizens of Tuna, Texas, the third smallest town in the state, each portraying about ten characters. In this third installment Haggard as Arles Struvie (radio disc jockey) and Brock as Bertha Bumiller have their closest encounter as marriage is proposed and delayed. But the knot is finally tied.

Reader suggestion: For better signs for The Crossing

About: Another suggestion to solve the CWB Crossing problem

I feel as though we have done everything possible except maybe erect a sign on both sides alerting motorists that they are approaching a 4-way intersection with stop signs. Then if that doesn't work maybe alerting people to turn off all cell phones when nearing the intersection.
