Gov. Beshear signs HB3, designed to attract film industry

LEXINGTON, Ky.--Surrounded by the unique beauty of Kentucky's scenic Keeneland Race Course, Gov. Steve Beshear today ceremoniously signed House Bill 3, which includes incentives designed to attract movie productions and other film industry opportunities to the Commonwealth.

"We think there's a lot of opportunity here to take advantage of our state's strongest features - its stunning natural beauty, its signature industries, its vibrant urban areas and rural back roads, its unique culture and its musical and sports heritage," said Gov. Beshear.

Is Macy's Parade stamp issue opportunity for fundraiser?

I just wanted to ask you a quick question. I collect stamps and there are things called first day covers that are collectors items. Basically, the new stamp on an envelope gets cancelled on the first day that it is issued in a specific location. Some people only collect FDC's. One thing that is also done with this is that "fancy" envelopes are also designed (called cachets).

CASEY CO., KY - Trooper Adam Likins is investigating a collision that occurred at 1:45pmCT today on KY Hwy 70, approximately 12 miles west of Liberty. 40 year old Rebecca Watson, of Hustonville, was operating a 2001 Oldsmobile westbound on KY Hwy 70, when she lost control of the vehicle and left the roadway.

CU offering 2 tuition-free classes for those unemployed

"We want to provide those who have lost their jobs with renewed hope and opportunity," -DR. MIKE V. Carter

CAMPBELLSVILLE, KY - Campbellsville University, by offering free tuition in the ACCEL Program, is stepping forward and helping those who have recently lost their jobs.

"The university will provide free tuition and related fees, not covered by state and federal financial, or other publicly funded programs, for up to two three-hour classes for any dislocated or recently unemployed adult who enrolls in the ACCEL Program," announced Dr. Michael V. Carter, president of the university.

School physicals and current immunization certificates are required for all entry level and 6th grade students for the 2009-10 school year. Upcoming 6th grade students must have a booster Tetanus shot. If your child has not had this done yet, please schedule an appointment as soon as possible. Proof of physicals and immunization is required for enrollment. Garrard Co. gets $500,000 in state aid to restore theatre

Once renovation completed, theatre in under 4,000 population ccommunity - smaller than Columbia, KY - will host nnational cultural and artistic events

LANCASTER, KY. - Governor Steve Beshear today announced two grants to support community initiatives and improve the quality of life for residents of Garrard County. The Garrard County Fiscal Court was awarded $500,000 for the restoration of the downtown Grand Theater and the city of Lancaster received $166,400 for the expansion of the Garrard County Cooperative Parish (GCCP) service facility.

Adair 9/10 All-Stars edge Washington Co. in thriller

Boys from Columbia take one run victory, overcoming controversial umpire call, three run deficit going into final inning

Despite a controversial call by the umpire in the top of the fourth inning that cost the team at least one run and took the power out of a mounting fourth inning offensive surge, the Adair County 9/10 All Stars Team put together a big sixth inning and went on to win 7-6 in a thrilling, late-night, come from behind victory over the Washington County All Stars on Monday night, July 6, 2009.

In last night's Columbia City Council Meeting, the council approved a Mayor Pat Bell's recommendation to send a $3,000 payment to pay the City's part in the paving of a parking lot at the Senior Citizen's Center on Carrie Bolen Drive. The contribution equals like amounts given by the Adair County Fiscal Court and the Lake Cumberland Area Development District.
