Jennifer Crawhorn writes: "We didn't get to see the big fireworks that each town usually has to celebrate Independence Day. But we did get to celebrate at home with our own Fireworks. Writer thinks creation of jobs should be highest priority

To ColumbiaMagazine.com

The square, center of Columbia is a very important Historic land site. My concern is for Adair County to have more jobs.

Our local businesses can only support a very few of the population in the city and county.

Whatever happened to the reality of no jobs, no future except tourism and trees.

Remembering the Bell at the LWC Administration Bldg.

Martha Henry Berry spotted a significant part of Columbia and Lindsey Wilson History in the lower left photo showing Lindsey Wilson College's Administration Building when a bell topped the entrance. and wrote the comment below. See Cultural & Culinary foreces colide at Ol' Joe's B&B Que and

Still misses the bell at LWC Administration Building;
It was sold in scrap metal drive in World War II
The bell was rung each time Lindsey Wilson won, at home or away

By Martha Henry Berry

One of the pictures from Joe Barbee's collection shows a picture of the Ad Building at LWC.

Do you remember the bell on the porch roof? You can barely see it through the trees.

It was donated to one of the scrap metal drives during WWII.The bell was rung for any worthwhile occasion, especially when LWC won a ball game. If the town heard the bell ringing we knew that LWC was the winner again at home or away!

I still miss seeing and hearing that bell as it was a part of LWC of long ago.

It was probably an original part of the building, put there when it was built.

Deck the Square with LIFE again!

Deck the Square with LIFE again!Comment on: Scenic Adair Co KY: The Courthouse at night

The picture is so pretty. I love the tree. If the wings are taken off it would leave space for a little town square on either side! Think of the flowers you could put there. Maybe some trees as well as park benches and a small fountain...It's my dream. I hope we help to make it everyone's dream. Deck the Square with LIFE again!

Comment: The Square is lonely, but not for long

Commentary re: Scenic Adair Co KY: The Courthouse at night

By Barbara Armitage

The Square looks so very lonely - but it won't be for long. Thanks to Judge Melton we are coming together to bring life back into our picture perfect little square. I can't wait to see this shot again when the Square is full of people and all the shops are full.
