Epicurean Kentuckian: Greek Salad

To ColumbiaMagazine.com:

Click here: Louis Pappas Famous Greek Salad - The Secret Recipe Foruml Louis Pappas Famous Greek Salad - The Secret Recipe Forum I spent 40 years of my life in Florida. There is a marvelous Greek community in Tarpon Springs, Florida, near Tampa, Florida. I grew up thinking this was the only way Greek salad should be made and I haven't changed my mind. It takes some time to put this together, but the salad is magnificent! A Greek salad without the Greek potato salad is not whole. Try it. You'll like it.s/Charles Marshburn

Confirming: Elderberry blooms. Claiming: Dibs on Bull Run crop

Berries make wonderful wine; they'll be ready to pick in August, but are harder to find when ripe
About: Wildflowers and plants of KY: Elderberry blossoms

To ColumbiaMagazine.com:

Yes, this beautiful plant is an Elderberry. They are easy to spot this time of year when their creamy white blossoms mark their location.

You will need to remember where you saw them if you want to pick because by the end of August when the berries are ripe they are a lot harder to locate.

By the way I have "dibs" on the elderberries out on Bull Run.

Elderberry wine is wonderful and this year I think I will try my hand at making Elderberry cordial if I can pick enough berries.

Thank you letting all Adair Countians post Reunions for free, especially online. The cost over the years, I'm sure, adds up.

To answer your question on the Harvey-Loy Reunion being the longest running in the county, I haven't a clue. But I wish we could find out for sure.

Wants Adair Co. government to act on messes

To ColumbiaMagazine.com:

It's one thing for somebody to store an old vehicle which will be reclaimed and refurbished, but it's another thing when people dump old cars, trucks, tractors, appliances, tires, furniture and whatever down in those same hollers.

Drive around and you'll see lots of these mini-junk yards and they're not only in the hollers, but are in the fields along the highways and in some cases right in front yards.

About: A guest review Dippin at the Dairy

To ColumbiaMagazine.com:

My wife Michele and I have frequented the Dairy Dip lately ourselves and have really enjoyed it, too. We especially like the chocolate soft serve cones. We both commented on how nice and willing to serve the girls that work there are. It seems they are very pleased to be working there and have the customer in mind while they are waiting on them. It's a very good place to go eat or get a snack. We like it a lot. If you have'nt been lately, you should give it a try. Keep up the good work girls. We'll be back.

Thanks,
s/Mark Hale

His Onetime Principal: Pedro taught us more than we did him

"Anyone who meets Pedro will a better person for having him as a friend" -PATTY JONES
About: Impossible Dream Come True for Pedro

By Patty Jones

I am so thrilled for Pedro and his family for this wonderful "dream" they are receiving. I still remember the day that Pedro entered kindergarten at Col. Wm. Casey and what a blessing I received hearing Pedro's father explain (via Jackie Montgomery's translation) how special their son was to them and how they were entrusting him to us. We certainly did not take that trust lightly.
