Never sees Mr. Brooks without his smile

About: Mrs Frances, along with Brooks Coomer, were her best teachers

To ColumbiaMagazine.com:

Mr.Brooks is a Elder at our church, Sparksville Baptist. He is still loved by all the children. It's hard not to love Mr. Brooks. I've never seen him without a smile. He had a accident and fell off a stage a couple years ago and even though he was in pain he kept the smile. He is still active in the church. Sparksville Baptist is blessed with his presence. God Bless You, Mr. Brooks!.

Needs to be forewarned of tomato sauce in meat dishes
About: Wants Mulligans menus posted evening ahead

To ColumbiaMagazine.com:

I would also like to see Mulligan's menu posted the day or evening before. A friend and I like to go for lunch. But I can only eat certain things and if they have two meats that have tomato sauce in them I would have no meat for lunch.

Thank you,

Mrs. Frances, along with Brooks Coomer, were her best teachers

Because of them, the little girl who struggled with arithmetic at Mt. Pleasant and Columbia Grade Center made all A's in college math
About: Remembering Mrs Stults: One of best teachers writer ever had

To ColumbiaMagazine.com:

"Mrs. Frances, as we called her, was my second and third grade teacher at Mt. Pleasant School. I couldn't learn math and she was so concerned about me, and very helpful.

Later at the Columbia Grade Center, after Mt. Pleasant was gone, she would catch me in the hall and ask me how I was doing in math. She was the best teacher i ever had, along with Brooks Coomer. These teachers are the reason for the A"s in college math.

I shall never forget them...

Remembering Mrs. Stults: One of best teachers writer ever had

About: Remembering Mrs Stults A great teacher And a great person

To ColumbiaMagazine.com:

Mrs. Stults was one of the best teachers I ever had. I still have my creative writing book that we made in her class. Bound with pink ribbon, it's yellowed and torn and I get it out every now and then and look through it. With Mrs. Stults is where I first learned to love writing. That's what I do today at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville. She was strict and a bit intimidating at times, but just a great teacher. I have many good memories of being lucky enough to be one of her students.

Remembering Mrs. Stults: A great teacher. And a great person

About: Remembering Frances Stults What a legacy she leaves

To ColumbiaMagazine.com:

I also remember Mrs. Stults and what a great teacher she was. I had just come over to the Columbia Grade Center from Lindsey Wilson Training School. She was so nice to me. I can remember the desks in the 5th grade rooms were much too large for me, so Mrs. Stults went down to one of the 1st grade rooms and got a desk for me. Not only was she a great teacher, she was a great person as well.

Wants Mulligan's menus posted evening ahead

To ColumbiaMagazine.com:

Could Mulligan's post their menu for the next day on CM in the late afternoon? I would like to take some people out to eat but they only eat certain meats so I would like it posted so we can make plans for the next day. I like eating out there. The salad is so fresh and they have such a nice variety of things on the salad bar. Everything I have eaten out there was well seasoned and tasted great, but I like the salad the best.

s/Maury Lewis

Thanks for asking. It's a good question. Others have asked about this possibility, Mulligan's Manager Mike Hamlett said. "We may be able to work out a way to do this." At CM, we want to know how to make the "What's Cooking" section better, too, especially since the restaurant scene here has gotten so exciting. Let us know. -EW

I wanted to thank everyone that came out Friday night and participated in our 13th annual Relay for Life. We had a wonderful turnout, and for the first time in a long time the weather finally cooperated with us.

We had 22 teams come out and set up their tents for the long haul. The night started off with a celebrity couple, Al and Peggy Bundy, making a guest appearance. Since it was an 80's theme, Julie Brockman and I decided we would go as one of Tv's funniest couples.

Remembering Frances Stults: What a legacy she leaves

About: Obituary: Frances Stults, 89, Columbia, KY

    To ColumbiaMagazine.com:

I am saddened to read of the passing of a great educator, Mrs. Frances Stults. I was fortunate to be assigned to her class in the fifth and seventh grades at the Columbia Grade Center. She was kind, but firm, as she taught her students and prepared them for their future lives. What a legacy she leaves in the hearts and minds of her former students. As a teacher myself, I know that she modeled for me the most desirable traits for a teacher to emulate. I hope that I too am preparing my students well.

My sympathy goes to her family and friends.
