HEAVY RAINS HAVE FILLED GREEN RIVER LAKE to the point that the fishing pier at Holmes Bend Lake is underwater, but Mike Carter of Louisville, KY, found a dry spot up the ramp cast for bream. Carter was fishing at Green River Lake with a party of 8, which had been lucky to find a cabin at Jericho. Campgrounds around the lake mostly reported capacity use, Rick New at Rerun's Restaurant said Saturday morning.

LWC's Burton Earns 1st Team All-American honors

Jamestown, KY native, LWC junior Krista Burton joins exclusive 15-Player NAIA All-American Team. She helped the Blue Raiders to five tournament wins during the season and an eighth place finish at the national championships

COLUMBIA, KY - Lindsey Wilson College women's golf junior Krista Burton has been named NAIA First Team All-American the NAIA announced on Friday, May 22, 2009.

Burton finished the season with a 76.68 scoring average over her 22 rounds during the 2008-09 season. She captured six individual titles during the season and capped the season with a tie for 11th at the NAIA National Championships to earn all-tournament for the second time in her career.

Burton is one of 15 women to earn first team honors. This season's All-American honors is the third time the Jamestown, KY, native, has been honored by the NAIA. Burton was First Team All-American in 2007 following her individual national championship and Honorable Mention All-American in 2008.

Burton helped the Blue Raiders to five tournament wins during the season and an eighth place finish at the national championships earlier this month.

The Campbellsville University Tigers didn't have any trouble navigating the more than 2,000-mile trip out west for the NAIA World Series, it was the 270 feet of base paths they couldn't complete.

Campbellsville left eight runners on base Friday morning in Lewiston, Idaho and lost to Lee University 5-2.

Mrs. Gertie Price Wilcoxson of Greensburg, Kentucky, daughter of the late Jeddy Price and Zora Munday Price, was born on September 21, 1917 in Adair County, KY, and departed this life on Thursday, May 21, 2009 at the Golden Living Center-Green Hill in Greensburg, KY. She was 91 years and eight months of age.

The funeral services for Mrs. Gertie Price Wilcoxson will be conducted at 1:00pmCT, Saturday, May 23, 2009 at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home, 206 South Main ST, Greensburg, KY, Greensburg, KY, with burial to follow in the Summershade Cemetery, next to Summershade United Methodist Church, 499 Bramlett Kemp RD, Greensburg, KY. When I checked last, we had 16,350 to No. 5 Wooster's 16,958.

This week I made a trip to the upper peninsula of Michigan better known as the UP. I have made several trips to Michigan but this was my first to the UP.

It was most pleasant. The weather was great. It occurred to me as vacation time approaches for those who may be tired of Florida or some other extremely hot climate, or for those that are still trying to decide that the UP is a great alternative.

AG Jack Conway announces guilty plea in Ebay scam

Case involves Nebraska who sold Lexus on Ebay to Prospect, KY, man, but failed to deliver.

Attorney General Jack Conway today announced the guilty plea and sentencing of Erica L. McGinn, formerly of North Bend, Ne., in connection with her failure to deliver a Lexus automobile that she sold through Ebay for $36,100 to a Prospect, Ky. man, in January 2008. The defendant did not own or have possession of the vehicle at the time of the transaction.

Investigators charged McGinn with one count each of theft by failure to make required disposition of property over $300, a class D felony, and unlawful access to a computer network in the first degree, a class C felony. She faced up to 10 years in prison.
