Green Countian is supporting Field of Dreams

Vote for the Field

By Shamarie Claiborne

I'm getting emails from people who are voicing their support for the Adair County Indians baseball field. Here's one I really appreciated:
Hey, Shamarie,

I live in Green County but I'm from Columbia and have family still living there. Imake it a point to go and vote everyday for my family...hoping that Columbia wins the make over. Thanks for all your hard work to see that Columbia gets this.

s/Betty Burris
This was my reply:
Betty-

Thank you so much Betty! Our extended families have all been doing a great job and now we can add Green County to those helping us win this contest. Some say it is not worth $15,000.00 to do all this, but I say it is $15,000.00 they don't have now, and no one is having to spend a dollar - just a little time each day. Please continue to support these boys. I know a few personally and they are great kids. Again, thanks for responding and voting! Get everyone you know to vote as well - Have a great day!

s/-Shamarie Claiborne
I know there are so many others all over the country - maybe some in other countries - who are taking the short time each day to "Vote for the Field." If you have a story about your own efforts, please write me at shamariec@windstream.net or send to ColumbiaMagazine.com and share your tips to Keep the Heat on.

We're now in 6th Place, Nationally. Goal is 14,000 by 5:00pmCT!

By Shamarie Claiborne

It's now all about friends of Adair County, and we're getting reports from both people from here living in other states and from friends of Adair County who are being the Good Neighbors we always want Adair County to be to them.

It's been a Great Morning today. Votes were in the 1,000 range, plus or minus a few.

But now is no time to let our guard down. It would help more than you'll know to send letters from other states to me, Shamarie Claiborne, at shamariec@windstream.net or by sending photos and stories about your involvement and outreach to ColumbiaMagazine.com.

Suggests City-County matching funds for ACHS baseball, too

About: "Ann's Challenge for the baseball field

To ColumbiaMagazine.com:

How about we get the county and city government to match what this contest gives and if we don't win the contest, maybe they can donate some money to rebuild the field no matter what the contest yields? Just a thought.

s/Doyle Lloyd

CM NOTE: A great idea. This would be great. And there may be ways others will send checks to the Adair County Baseball Boosters while they are supporting the team in the Field of Dreams contest.

And, lest we forget - the ACHS Marching Band's 2009 Macy's Day Parade fundraiser is barreling on, with new totals everytime we look:

Adair Band.com Doyle Lloyd, webmaster

Check it today, Wednesdy, May 20, 2009. The band is now at $88,119, now $51,881 away from the goal of $140,000 needed to send the Adair County Marching Band to the 2009 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.
