CAMPBELLSVILLE, KY - Campbellsville University awarded Excellence in Teaching Awards to 145 educators from across Kentucky during the 23rd annual awards program Saturday, May 16, 2009, in the Winters Dining Hall of the E. Bruce Heilman Student Complex on the Campbellsville University campus.

John Chowning, vice president for church and external relations and executive assistant to the president, gave the welcome and opening remarks.

LWC Women's Tennis Falls to Fresno Pacific in Final Four

MOBILE, AL -- The Lindsey Wilson College women's tennis team's upset run ended today with a 5-0 loss to No. 2 seed Fresno Pacific (CA) University in the NAIA National Semifinals at the Mobile Tennis Center.

After beating two seeded teams to reach its fourth straight national semifinal, unseeded Lindsey Wilson struggled for the second consecutive year against Fresno Pacific. The Blue Raiders fell to the Lady Sunbirds 5-2 in one of last season's semifinals.

RAPID CITY, S.D. -- The Lindsey Wilson College womena[euro](TM)s golf team climbed two more spots today to finish eighth at the NAIA National Championships at Meadowbrook Golf Course.

Lindsey Wilson finished with a four-round total of 1,305 (325-336-322-322) following its second straight 322 in Fridaya[euro](TM)s final round. Oklahoma City University captured its fifth straight national title with a team total of 1,228 (302-311-302-313).Lindsey Wilson finishes its season with five tournament wins.

We know that the public voting will count for 1/2 of the final score, and the Sponsors judging panel results will count for the other 1/2 of the final score. Here is what the judging panel will be using to score their 1/2.

All entries will be judged based on the following judging criteria:
  • "feasibility of field makeover" (10%)
  • "location of the field" (10%)
  • "how old is the field?" (10%)
  • "how often is the field used?" (10%);
  • "how many events take place on the field each month/year?"(10%)
  • "what teams use the field?" (10%)
  • are there other athletic fields in the community?" (10%)
  • "Background: Demand for the field." (10%)
  • "Condition: What shape is the field in?" (10%)
  • "Impact: How would this field's makeover help the community?" (10%)

Post 15, Columbia, KY, participates in border traffic check

(ADAIR CO, KY) -- The Kentucky State Police Post 15 Columbia and the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement participated in the 2009 Hands Across the Border Detail with The Tennessee Highway Patrol. A road check was set up at the Tennessee and Kentucky State line in Static which yielded several traffic citations. Kentucky agencies that also participated were the Albany Police Department and the Clinton County Sheriffs Department.

Glensfork Church of The Nazarene RFL Fundraiser re-scheduled
THIS IS NEW DATE FOR PREVIOUSLY POSTPONED EVENT
The table tennis/corntoss tournament scheduled for 12:00pm, Saturday, May 2, 2009, at Glensfork Church of the Nazarene, 7811 Jamestown Road, Columbia, KY was postponed due to inclement weather. The tournaments have been rescheduled for Saturday, May 16, 2009. All times and details will remain the same, only the date has been changed. The Table Tennis Tournament will be double elimination and will begin with bracket drawing at 11:30amCT. Play will begin at 12:00pmCT. The Corn Toss Tournament will be double elimination and will begin with draws for partners and brackets at 3:30pmCT. Play will begin immediately following the draws and the completion of the Table Tennis Tournament. The cost is $5 per person for each tournament. $10 to play both tournaments. There will be a Junior tournament as well, so bring the kids. Trophies will be awarded to the winners of the Junior and Adult division in each tournament.
