AG Jack Conway files lawsuit against auto warranty telemarketer

"Consumers from across Kentucky have reported these annoying warranty calls to both our website and our Consumer Protection Hotline," General Conway said

From the office of the Kentucky Attorney General

Special ColumbiaMagazine.com story

Attorney General Jack Conway today announced the filing of a consumer protection lawsuit in Fayette Circuit Court against a Nevada telemarketing company for making deceptive calls concerning automobile warranties to Kentucky consumers on the Do Not Call list. The company's principal owner, Mike Bruce Moneymaker, a resident of California, was also named as a defendant in the suit.

The Attorney General is seeking a temporary injunction to prohibit the telemarketing company from making further telephone calls to Kentucky residents with phone numbers on the national Do Not Call Registry and committing other false, misleading and deceptive acts in the course of the solicitations.

Wonders where Sheriff's link is on County website

About: Magistrates see premiere of AdairConnection.com

To ColumbiaMagazine.com:

Just visited the AdairConnection site and believe it will be a boon to bringin outsiders in, 'Specially when they realize we evidently have no need for a local constabulary or even a link to the high sheriff's office. Course they might be wonderin what we have a jail for but we could always promote it as a hospitality inn for those from off who chose to test the limits of our hospitality.

Epicurean Kentuckian: Asparagus and tomatoes

. Two great Kentucky-grown ingredients: Tomatoes from a prolific patio plant, and asparagus. It's an irony to consider every year that more of the delicacy isn't grown in a state whose climate and soils are so nurturing. It's not uncommon to volunteer aparagus growing in fence rows. Pen calls this photo: "Ingredients for pasta."By Pen.

Tabernacle Homemakers Club goes on fishing expedition

Click on headline for story with photo

By Lila Loy

The ladies of the Tabernacle Homemakers Club met on Tuesday, May 12, 2009 at the home of Lucille Lemon. After a wonderful snack provided by the hostess, the ladies then made their own bottle fish. Each one claimed that their fish was better looking than the others, and were happy to be able to catch a fish without a license.

They all turned out very nice. The class was taught by Lila Loy, but the "gals" all helped each other and completed their fish. Good work girls: Shirley Baldwin, Mary E Grant, Ora Lee Jones, Zola Lee, Lucille Lemon, Lula Baldwin, and Louise Kilby.
