More news about the band: Doyle Lloyd has moved the thermometer up to $75,200! That is money banked, and does not count pledges still out. In the last two days, the funds thermometer has gone up over $10,000.00!

The band is now within $64,800 of reaching its goal of $140,000. On a daily basis, that now means that one person could write a check for $289.29, and that would pay for the average amount needed to be raised in the next 224 days.

Small Gifts Saved A Kentucky Treasure:
Kentucky Repertory Theatre

by Robert Stone

Tom Chaney's column "Theatre on Hard Times in Horse Cave" giving an account of the present situation and some history, appeared February 3, 2009, on ColumbiaMagazine.

He pointed out: "Last year Kentucky Repertory Theatre enfolded some 15,500 students in their educational arms. Those students came from more than 30 counties around us -- a quarter of the state -- as well as from some counties in Tennessee. In an area where the arts have always taken a tenuous back seat in the public schools, KRT has filled that gap."

Gas Price Drumbeat may have had effect: Prices more uniform

To ColumbiaMagazine.com

Recently, I have been traveling through Columbia, Russell Springs, Somerset, and Danville. The prices for gas have been very uniform. For the most part gas prices have been between 1.969 to 1.999. Prices in these areas use to vary as much as 15 cents a gallon. Maybe your listing these prices online has had some impact.
