CAMPBELLSVILLE, KY - Hands were clapping and feet were tapping to the sounds of Buzz Cason, author, songwriter, publisher and director of Creative Writers Group, and his guitar as he performed a concert for Campbellsville University in The Gheens Recital Hall, Tuesday, April 7, 2009.

Cason emphasized his road to success and several of the people he met along the way that left a lasting impression on him including Hank Williams, Tony Moon, Mac Gayden and Arthur Alexander.

Mr. Bottom was veteran of World War II and a member of Union Independent Baptist Church

Lyman M. Bottom, 83, Russell Springs, KY, died April 14, 2009, at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset, KY. The funeral service will be at 1:00pmCT, Friday, April 17, 2009, at Wilson Funeral Home, 391 Steve Warriner Drive, Russell Springs, KY. Interment will be in Bethlehem Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, April 16, 2009, at Wilson Funeral Home.

Arnold Mayse completes 44 years with AC Conservation Board

The Adair County Conservation District Board ofSupervisors presented Mr. Arnold Mayse with a Plaque in Recognition ofhis 44 years of service as a Supervisor on the Board on April 9, 2009.

Mr. Mayse began as a supervisor on May 10, 1962 and his term run through May 9, 2006.

"I saw many changes from 1962 to 2006," Mr. Mayse said.

The District Board wants to thank Mr. Mayse for his hard work, dedication and his 44 years of servicea and wants the world to know about his dedication andhard work! The Board extends love and appreciate to you and your wife, McEva. -KATHY KEITH, for the Adair County Conservation District Board.

Obituary: Calvin Booker Paxton, 82, Green Co. native






CALVIN PAXTON
Mr. Paxton was the head of a large, respected family. He was a retired Kerns bakery sales employee. He was a member of Greensburg Presbyterian Church, a US Army Veteran, a member of Rod Lowe Post #124, and a Kentucky Colonel








Mr. Calvin Booker Paxton of Louisville, Kentucky a native of Green County, son of the late Elliott Paxton and Josie Hudson Paxton, was born on July 22, 1926 in Green County and departed this life on Sunday, April 12, 2009 at the Golden Living Center-Hillcreek Manor in Louisville. He was 82 years, eight months and 21 days of age.

The funeral services for Mr. Calvin Booker Paxton were conducted at 11:00amCT, Wednesday, April 15, 2009 at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home, Greensburg, KY, with Rev. Charlie Paxton officiating. Burial was in in the Greensburg Cemetery

Obituary: Aaron Pyles, 87, Adair native, Republican leader

Mr. Pyles was born a member of a large, influential Adair County family. He was a longtime power in the Republican Party, a close friend and political ally of Representative Tim Lee Carter, a member of the South Campbellsville Campbellsville Baptist Church. He was a veteran of WWII, a businessman, and a Campbellsville Water Board member for 19 years.
Belated obituary; burial was April 7, 2009

Aaron E. Pyles, 87, of Campbellsville, KY, son of the late J. B. Pyles and Retta Mae Bryant Pyles, was born August 24, 1921, in Adair County, Kentucky. He died at 8:47pmET., Saturday, April 4, 2009, at his home.

The funeral service was Tuesday, April 7, 2009, at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home, Campbellsville, KY, with Rev Shaun Caudill officiatiing, with burial in the Campbellsville Memorial Gardens with full military honors by the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard.

LWC men's soccer vs. UL in free exhibition at Reuling Stadium

COLUMBIA, KY - The Lindsey Wilson College men's soccer team hosts University of Louisville on Wednesday night in an exhibition at Walter S. Reuling Stadium.

Lindsey Wilson finished the 2008 season with an 18-2-1 record after advancing to the NAIA National Championships' second round. Louisville ended the fall season, the main season for soccer,11-8-2 falling in the NCAA National Championships' first round.

The LWC vs UL soccer exhibition is schedule for 7:00pmCT and is free to the public. Walter S. Reuling Stadium, Blake Street at Williams Street, Lindsey Wilson College, Columbia, KY.

Adair County Fiscal Court was a major happenng last night, with the biggest news being saved till last: The Court, before a packed, standing room only crowd, voted 5-2 to give $3,000 toward the Adair County Band's historic appearance in the 2009 Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade. Voting for the donation were Magistrates Wid Harris (2), Sammy Baker (3), Billy Dean Coffey (5), Joe Rogers (6), and and Terry Hadley (7).
