Roadblocks tomorrow for a good cause: Kosair Charities

The Mark Twain Chapter of Kosair Shriners will be holding roadblocks tomorrow afternoon in Columbia for a wonderful cause: Kosair Charities.

Shriner Robert Flowers said that the road blocks will be at:
  • Campbellsville Street between IGA Express and the Columbia Cemetery
  • On Jamestown Street at Hurt Street
  • And at the entrance to Walmart Supercent at Holladay Place
Flowers wanted everyone to know that every penny of the money collected for the roadblock goes to Kosair Charities, which funds Kosair Children's Hospital in Louisville as well as furnish equipment and aid to special needs children. "Hundreds of families in Adair and surrounding counties have been helped by Kosair Charities," Flowers said. "We want to do this to offer a little bit in return.Flowers said that a complete roster of all the Shriners who will be at the roadblocks wasn't available, but he'll be out along with likely workers Joe and Jimmy Flowers, Dr. Ronnie Rogers, Dr. Ronald P. Rogers, Leonard England, Terry Moore, and Brandon Minton, and Jimmy Harper.

About: "Jenna McGaha gives hair for Wigs for Kids"

To ColumbiaMagazine.com:

Just a note for Jenna from her Nannie. I was not wanting her to get her beautiful hair cut. I was thinking entirely the wrong way. But Jenna told me she was getting it cut so that she could donate it for wigs for kids who had no hair, due to cancer, and I saw a different picture then.I think she is a special child always, but I am glad she wanted to donate her hair for this special cause.

CJE Ann Melton, Adair Co. court to honor hair for wigs donors

I wantto thank all these young ladies and, I believe, one young man who have so graciously donated their hair for wigs for cancer patients.

None of us know who will have a child in our family who might be the next to need one.

It is especially heartwarming to know that the spirit of giving which so distinguishes Adair County continues to thrive, and grow with each successive generation. Of the many wonderful benefits of living this this beautiful county of ours, I can think of none more valuable than the great tradition of ours of generosity and concern for others.

I would like to invite each of these young people to our next court meeting at 7:00pmCT, Tuesday evening, April 14, 2009.

The court members and would like to honor them and personally thank them for their good deeds. And I want to give them all a big hug.
