Wal-Mart gives $1,500 to kick off 2009 Helmets for Kids program Coroner's office, AC 4-H Council team up for current year program By Rick Wilson, Adair Co. Coroner I want to let you know , so you can spread the word that we are continuing the Helmets For Kids program this year. This year The Coroner's Office has teamed up with the Adair County 4H Council and Wal-Mart has awarded us a $1,500 grant. This money will will buy between 37 and 75 ATV helmets. In 2007 we gave 156 helmets away and last year we gave 186 helmets. I feel we have made an impact in safety awareness of the dangers of ATV's when a person does not wear a helmet. If a child in Adair County under 18 wants an ATV helmet, just give me a call at (270) 378-1490 for an application. The child will have to sign an agreement and pledge to always wear the helmet when riding an ATV. Plus we count on the parents to enforce the rule. I appreciate the local 4H Council because they do so many positive things to promote safety for our youth. I am thrilled that Wal-Mart provided the grant so that we can continue the program. I also appreciate your coverage on ColumbiaMagazine.com and all the people that have supported the program so far. 2009-03-25 05:18:52 | Comments | Printable version

Web Reporting 101: For events, write the 5W's and an H first Email or write CM for more details. We don't have all the answers, but we'll share what we know. "Events" are all about communication. The first task, the main goal, is to have a succinct paragraph, telling in no more than three or four lines everything needed to answer these questions:
