Challenge to Carol Perkins to ride new Wild Mouse

About: Carol Perkins' Beech Bend Park

To Carol Perkins, via ColumbiaMagazine.com:

Carol, you must take your grandchildren to Beech Bend and you have to ride the "new" Wild Mouse with them. I took two of mine two years ago and had to stuff my now larger than life size body into the seat between them. Guess what? I was as scared that day as I was the first time I rode it way back when?????

I love your stories.

Special ColumbiaMagazine.com report

The availability of a building for firefighters to use as a training facility is a rare gift.

To have 16 doors to practice forcible entry, a wall to collapse for trapped victims, and a two story building to use a ladder truck to ascend and cut ventilation holes in a roof was a tremendous opportunity.

Murray dog not in photos of dogs adopted out

About: " Letter suggests ways to find missing Golden Retriever"

To ColumbiaMagazine.com:

Hey thanks so much for the tip. I did however check with them and they returned my call today which I totally appreciate!! They said they had not seen my dog but if she was adopted out, this informaiton could not be given out. I can look and see the photos of the dogs that have been adopted out, but Baby was not in that bunch! I do know however, that some dogs were put down before they could have been transferred to that shelter. I appreciate the assistance and maybe just maybe my Baby is still in Adair County and can be found!

The Salatos: A reflection of a parental job well done

About: The Salatos: An old fashioned, forever kind of love

To ColumbiaMagazine.com:

To love your parents the way Carol, Nancy, and Mike loved theirs is a reflection of a job well done.

I am so glad Carol wrote about her parents. I knew some of their story, but having become friends with Carol when she lived in Edmonton, I didn't really know her dad, but had met her mom several times in social settings (weddings, showers, etc.)

Web 101, 5Ws + H" Last minute checks from Rudyard Kipling

For events, photo captions, and stories, the last minute check is from web reporting instructions written in 1902 by Rudyard Kipling, his six honest serving men: Who, What, Where, When, Why, and How.

Always ask, Who? What? Where? (Rudyard Kipling wanted street numbers and street for navigational purposes; and he would have wanted it noted if the number is not posted on the venu) along with City and State; When (ex: at 9:00amCT, Friday, March 27, 2009), Why? and How?

When those questions are satisfactorily answered, Rudyard Kipling would then, and only then, click "Send" to ColumbiaMagazine.com.

He would have sent it properly capitalized (never in all caps), in narrative form, in ColumbiaMagazine.com format, we're sure.

And he would never have sent the submission in more than one email including jpg attachments and all faces identified. Nor would he have sent it as a poster unless it were to be paid advertising, and he wouldn't have asked ColumbiaMagazine.com to publicize for free while paying for publicity elsewhere in print, on t-shirts, billboards, flyers, Tv or cable, or yard sales, realizing that he would be reaching more people by ColumbiaMagazine.com than by any other means.

That's just the kind of guy he was.

Beech Bend was place to go lieu of vacations

About: Carol Perkins: Beech Bend Park

To ColumbiaMagazine.com:

When I was a young child we went to Beech Bend Park every year for a family reunion. I think it was the Jessie family I am not for sure.

I have fond memories of the screened in pavilion where we ate our lunch and then afterward the younger family members would go up on the hill and ride rides and play games until time to go home. I had so much fun because it was like going on vacation.

We didn't go on vacations back then because both my parents worked on the farm milking cows and raising crops so they were tied down, but once a year we went to Beech Bend and had the best time.

Letter suggests ways to find missing Golden Retriever

Debbie Murray's dog is missingTo ColumbiaMagazine.com:

If Debbie's dog actually was among the dogs seized, it may have wound up with a breed rescue. I'd suggest she check with Warren County's humane organization and any and all Golden Retriever rescues in a large area, at least covering all of Kentucky, part of Tennessee and possibly other states, too.

She can do this online...This is a prime example why having your dog microchipped is a good idea. It is also a reminder to people with the underground or electronic fence that it doesn't always stop a dog from leaving the yard, and it won't stop someone from stealing a dog.

I wish Debbie luck in her search. It's heartbreaking to have a missing pet.

Debbie Murray's golden retriever is missing

MISSING PET. REWARD
Golden Retriever missing since huge AC Animal Bust

Debbie Murray fears her pet may have been in that bunch. She was a Christmas present from husband. Reward offered for her return

To ColumbiaMagazine.com:

My Golden Retriever is missing and has been just before the huge Adair County Animal bust. I fear she may have been in that bunch but I have attempted to contact the shelter a number of times now with no help from them. I'm now reaching out to the public to attempt to find my baby.

She is golden in color and answers to the name baby. She has been spayed and is very friendly. A reward is offered for her return. When she disappeared she had on a two collars, one was a shock collar as she was in an underground fence which she got out of.

Please post this message and forward to any person you might find to help me bring my baby back. She was a Christmas present from my husband when my last retriever passed and is very special to me.

Thank you so much for your help!
