Proud of Adair County Certified Critical Care paramedics

About: "KYs only service with 100% Certified Critical Care paramedics "

Ed,

I have had the fortune of working with these paramedics for many years, some of them for 25 plus years. They are knowledgeable and stay on the cutting edge of new medical interventions and treatments. They are kind to the patients and their families. I know that when they bring a patient to the ER that they have done everything possible for them that can be done pre-hospital. I am very proud of their new accomplishment in obtaining the status of critical care paramedic. This is a difficult and strenous knowledge/educational based achievement.

Columbia-Adair County Airport BD receives $65,000 KY check

2009-03-16 - Adair Annex Building 424 Public Square, Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener.
ADAIR COUNTY AIRPORT BOARD CHAIRMAN JOHN RAREY and ADAIR COUNTY JUDGE EXECUTIVE ANN MELTON hold a check for $65,000, issued March 6, 2009, by the Kentucky State Treasurer to go toward the the cost of the recently completed 10-plane hangar at the airport. The money had been promised in the last days of the Gov. Ernie Fletcher Administration, and was, initially stopped by the current administration, but, on orders from Gov. Beshear, was re-instated. At left is C-AC Airport board member Howard Loy; at right, board member Darrell Carter. Mr. Rarey announced at the press conference held Monday, March 15, 2009, at 4:00pmCT that the paving around the hangar is complete at a cost of around $40,000. The board received gifts of $10,000 from the Adair Fiscal Court and the Columbia City Council. Mr. Rarey said concrete was used because of its longer life expectancy and the fact that recent surges in the cost of blacktop meant the more durable material concrete cost only a few dollars more.

Whoops! CM is getting Knifleyerian censorship!

What to do? What to do? What's Cooking in Adair County causes mass confusement and indecision at Dun Roman; COF has pulled the switch on ColumbiaMagazine.com. Living in paradise of gourmet goodness overwhelms even the colossal cerebellum of the COF; maybe the ruination of ColumbiaMagazine.com as we know it.

Ed,

With regret I gotta tell ya that I'm havin' to censor CM.

If'n Miz Emily wuz to start reading your vittles reviews, she'd be pitchin' a regular hissie fit fer me to be a takin' her to one of these places ever day. As tis now, I've got her convinced that Bakers and Crossroads are as high on the hog as hit gits in these parts.

Cat fan jumps on wrong family member

About: Jim Richards sends tip link on the Toppers

Hey Ed,

Are you OK or has the CM mainframe collapsed under the volume of "Blueblood" response to soon to be disowned Jim Richards? Mr. Richards' blatant inflammatory monologue has ignited flames of passion in even the most limp Cat Fan and I am sure that his reckless comments have pushed thousands of more moderate "sane" Cat Fans toward a "Blueblood." transfusion.

Seeking respectful dialog,

s/Billy Joe Fudge
Mr. Fudge needs to take a nerve bill. He's found offense were none was intended and has blamed poor Jim Richards, who isn't here to defend himself, for an innocuous CM comment. Mr. Richards merely sent the unembellished link. Alas, it looks like no good deed goes unpunished. All we are CM were trying to do was to add a little parity to an unbalanced situation, even though none may exist, given the overpowering red schools' superiority. So we hope this calms the waters. The last thing we want to do is to stir up anything. -Ed Waggener

Upset alert: Jim Richards sends tip link on the Toppers

In case anyone is overlooking the No. 2 ranked NCAA Division I Men's team in the the Commonweatlh of Basketball, after Charles Marshall's University of Louisville Cardinals, Jim Richards sends this link to Tim Tucker of the Atlanta, GA, Constitution and NCAA region preview: The South. The article comes close to making the Hilltoppers chances look as good as Richards' own view, an e-bit biased one, since the Garlin, KY born Richards is a former WKU head basketball school whose team ran into Earvin Johnson in Dayton, OH in the 1979 NCAA, creating a bad situation for the Hilltoppers. Both the University of Louisville and Western Kentucky University are basketball schools; the other one of Kentucky's Big Three Public Universities, the University of Kentucky, is No. 24 in the nation in Entomology, the study of bugs, so it has that going for it.

Thank you so much for the info on the Academic Team. It is great to have the news so quickly!

Thanks. Wish CM could take more credit, but the credit goes to an anonymous person whose contribution to Excellence in Adair County is never exceeded. We just posted the wonderful news the individual sent. By the way, that's the real reason Adair County is such a wonderful place: Where else on earth are there so many people who contribute without thought of credit? -EW

Writer thinks Kick Butts day sounds awesome

Her father died of emphysema, caused by second hand smoke
About: "Kick Butts Day a great time to kick the smoking habit"

To ColumbiaMagazine.com:

Kick butts day sounds awesome! Not only does cigarette smoking smell bad but you're inhaling and exhaling noxious chemicals everytime you smoke.

Chemicals like strichnyne, formaldehyde and more. Poisonous chemicals used to treat the tobacco as preservatives and pesticides; stuff your generation ago farmers did not use on the product.

My father-in-law chewed tobacco - if gave him colon-rectal cancer and sores in his mouth.

My father died from emphysema caused by second hand smoke. Both of them were wonderful fathers and friends and we miss them dearly. Tobacco caused deaths are painful, wretched wasting diseases and so hard on all concerned.

However these deaths can be prevented by quitting and avoiding smoke filled rooms.Consider the lifelong damage caused to your children's lungs from second hand smoke. Asthma, bronchitis, ear infections and lower immune systems that defend against infectious diseases.
