Letter from Lucky Recipient of one of the wonderful puppies

About: "Good Lord! No wonder this letter isn't signed"

To ColumbiaMagazine.com:

I am with you on this one. Did this person not stop and look at the picture? It's so sweet. I agree that there are dogs that are out there not being taken care of but this woman is trying to find loving homes for these puppies. I called about one for my son today it will be here this afternoon. Some people don't appreciate a special and wonderful picture like this one. You will never capture that moment again, a child walking and man's best friend following. Why can't people stop and look at the true beauty before they let there mouth go?

Letter: Important thing is owner takes loving care of puppies

About: "Good Lord! No wonder this letter isn't signed"

To Columbiamagazine.com:

Thank you Ed. Sometimes things just happen. But "unsigned" should be thankful that that responsibility was taken for these puppies and the owner is trying to find them a loving home, and is not dropping them off on the side of the road to be killed or discarded like an old worn out shoe. It was a beautiful picture and if I didn't have nine dogs of my own (all spayed and neutered ... just in case unsigned was wondering) I would take one myself. Thank you for the wonderful picture and for caring enough to make sure these precious puppies have a great start at life.

Let's think about it: Justifications for scientific experiments

INTRODUCTION: "Let's think about it" is meant to be a catalyst to perspicacious thought. I am not privy to a record of all the dialog that proceeded "Columbus' sailing of ocean blue" but I am sure that the conservatives and progressives of that day gathered 'round country stores and participated in decades of heated discussions about the brilliance and or ignorance of exploring beyond the horizon. Given this surety I am also fully persuaded that each group worked very hard to silence the other. I submit that great discoveries are never made in a vacuum and great enduring strength is never gained without a strong competing entity with which to hone the edges of our endeavors. Let us not strive to silence but rather let us engage. "Let's think about it." -BILLY JOE FUDGE

By B.J. Fudge
His Personal Opinions

We are all daily inundated by eloquent scientific justifications for projects. The most recent project which is enjoying scientific justification is the Kepler Spacecraft which was launched March 6th at a cost of $591,000,000 to us American taxpayers.

I suppose the amount of money spent on this project is reasonable considering that we American taxpayers will soon be paying $200,000 to remove a few tattoos in Mission Hills, California. I just want us to think about what "schools of thought" are really saying.

Good Lord! No wonder this letter isn't signed

About: "Beaglitz puppies free to a good home"

To ColumbiaMagazine.com:

I hope she gets the poor mother dog spayed. Isn't she aware of the overpopulation of our animal shelters and how many innocent homeless dogs are put to sleep everyday?

Unsigned

Unsigned: Get a life! No wonder your letter isn't signed!!! Becky Crawhorn stated that the families intentions were for the mother (poor mother indeed! Look at her in the photo!) to have purebred puppies, but an accident occurred. The puppies couldn't be happier. They couldn't be cuter. They couldn't be better care for. Leave to "unsigned" to take the joy out of one of the most beautiful scenes we've ever seen. Heck, I don't even like dogs--been bitten too many times by dogs which the owners say "will bark, but he won't bite"--and I'd love to have all four of these guys. -signed/ED WAGGENER

Editorial note: Pictures aren't frozen

If you wonder why the top picture on the front page of ColumbiaMagazine isn't changing, it isn't because the the system is frozen or we don't have any more fantastic photos to print. It's simply because this is one of our favorites, ever. There will be new photos in a little while. We won't have to be hauled from the broadcast booth for refusing to stop playing "Louie, Louie," but as far as we are concerned, this photo epitiomizes what the future of Adair County is about. -Ed Waggener.
