Letter: I hit the slopes a favorite Carol Perkins story

About: "I hit the slopes"To ColumbiaMagazine.com:

I am so glad to see you featuring some of Carol Perkins stories/articles on Columbia Magazine. I have her first book and truly enjoyed reading it. I was fortunate to have had Mrs. Perkins as a teacher at Metcalfe Co. High School and she always pushed her students to be the better writers. While I look forward to reading other stories I must say the skiing story is one of my favorites from the book.

COMPLEAT FISHERMAN: Cumberland 1 of top trout streams in KY

Information for Mr. Charles Marshburn: There's great trout fishing below Wolf Creek Dam in Russell County, and along the way through Cumberland County and Monroe all the way to Tennessee. Closer to home, there's good fishing at the Rockhouse and good bank fishing on Crocus Creek on KY 704

By Joe Hare

The Cumberland River below Wolf Creek Dam is one of the top trout streams in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Either current of past state records for Rainbow and Brown trout have been taken from these waters. Fishing conditions are very dependent on the river level which is controlled by the amount of generators that are running at Wolf Creek Dam, this info can be found at web site: Wolf Creek Dam.

"Hit the Slopes"

"We need to try something new each year." I revealed my plan to my husband Guy. "We're forty-five. If we try a new adventure each year until we're sixty, think of everything we can do. We can go skiing, white water rafting, horseback riding, and maybe take a ride in a hot air balloon."

He didn't see anything wrong with what we were doing now.

Evans had a gallery of dozens of supporters in attendance, but, because the meeting was a special called one, they were not allowed to speak on her behalf at this meeting.

Letter: Incomer needs information on trout fishing

To ColumbiaMagazine.com:

Is there a productive trout fishery near Columbia that could be fished from a canoe or kayak? What is the best time of year? What kind of trout or other fish are present in this fishery? What type of license is required?

s/Charles Marshburn

While we are sure that the world's greatest trout fishing is right here, the specific answers to your questions will have to come from someone more knowledgeable, probably a Russell or Cumberland Countian. -CM
