Judge Weddle rules Wellie Paul Grant not competent for trial Adair County Circuit Judge James Weddle ruled Wednesday, March 4, 2009, that Wellie Paul Grant is incompetent to stand trial and ordered him committed to Eastern State Hospital in Lexington, KY for a period of 360 days, at which time another hearing will be held to examinine his competency to stand trial. The order noted that there "no reasonable likelihood that the Defendant will gain competency in the near future."The charges, stemming from the murder of Adair County businessman Rex Coffey in June 2006, are continued generally. LWC ACES club holding Toy Drive for St. Jude's As part of our annual spring break mission trip to Memphis, Tennessee, the Lindsey Wilson College ACES club is holding a Toy Drive to benefit St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital. According to the 2000 Census there were 4,332 persons with disabilities in Adair County. The Arc of Lake Cumberland has served persons with intellectual disabilities and other disabilities in the Lake Cumberland region for over 15 years. We are a not-for-profit, grass-roots, advocacy organization. AC Recycling Trailer will alterrnate between Wal-Mart stores The Adair County Recycling Trailer will be Old Walmart parking lot until tomorrow, Friday, March 6, 2009, at which time it will be picked up and emptied. Next Tuesday, March 10, 2009, it will be moved to the new Walmart and then each Tuesday will be moved back and forth between each Walmart. Mowing season begins March 9, 2009 along KHD District 8 roads By Stephanie Daffron, KHD District 8, Somerset, KY The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is in the process of dispatching state road crews and contract mowing crews to cover approximately 27,500 miles of Kentucky's state maintained highways. From early spring until the fall there will be mowing cycles and litter pickups on major state routes. Cpl Dan and Tavon Kermeen expecting boy, in late July Cpl Kermeen and wife are having a boy! It's official, this afternoons ultrasound was very clear that Daniel & Tavon are having a little boy! He is due to arrive late July or early August. Everyone is so excited. Daniel threatened to send it back if it was a girl. I know that a little girl would have won his heart quickly. But my competitive son wanted a boy and he is getting his wish! The expectant couple hopes to be home the first week in April for a visit if his leave is approved. The proud grandparents to be are Pam and Barry Kermeen and Sandy and Troy Ford. If only Camp LeJeune wasn't 12 hours away!
