Scenic Adair Co., KY: Winterized. Tabor Snow Scene

2009-01-31 - Tabor Community, KY 704, Adair County, KY - Photo by Tony Harvey.
Tony Harvey writes: "I really didn't want to go outside the day of the last ice storm that we had. So I bundled up and didn't have to go very far to capture this image. Our yard has several large maples and they were loaded down with ice. I thought this branch stuck out more than most, I found it kind of odd that there was a single leaf left on the branch. So it was worth it after all to get out that day, even though it's easy for me to get cold. I have to take Coumadin to thin my blood and that causes me to get cold easy." Flickr. Letter: Writer is for wet-dry vote; against smoke ban

Ed,

I am in favor of a wet -dry vote and as a smoker I won't spend my dollars at any place that bans smoking. This state and its people made its living off of tobacco and tobacco sales for many, many years and now everyone wants to shut it down. Why should the state or county be allowed to dictate as to whether they can smoke in a restaurant or not. It doesn't seem right to me.

Letter: Wet/moist would make no difference, writer thinks

He'd prefer no smoking restaurants, but by choice of the owners, with customers letting them know how they feel
About: How does the public stand on wet-moist No Smoking

To ColumbiaMagazine.com:

Personally, I don't believe going wet or moist will make a difference.

Look at Lebanon. Are they thriving with an abundance of places to eat? Especially chain stores. Look at all the industry there is in Lebanon, many of which are laying people off. The economy is not best at wet towns just because its wet. It takes a lot of work to keep a thiving economy.

Letter: How does the public stand on wet/moist, No Smoking

To ColumbiaMagazine.com:

The last I read in The Magazine indicated that at least three fourths of Columbia is in favor of Columbia going wet/moist and everyone is in favor of No Smoking in public places. Am I correct, or is there evidence to the contrary?

s/Charles Marshburn

Based on the letters we received at ColumbiaMagazine.com, your numbers are only a little high for those in favor of Wet/Moist, but it is inaccurate to say that everyone is in favor of No Smoking in public places. -EW
