Gas price gouging settlement announced by KY Attorney General

Attorney General's offices investigation into whole gas prices in Louisville is ongoing. Today's announcement related to price gouging following Hurricane Katrina

Attorney General Jack Conway and Gov. Steve Beshear today announced the results of the gas price-gouging investigation that occurred in the wake of Hurricane Ike and the subsequent windstorm in Kentucky. The investigation resulted in settlements totaling $107,500 with eight retail stations in seven different Kentucky communities.

"Many of us were shocked and outraged by the scope of the price increases, and on September 12 we decided they merited a closer look," said Governor Beshear.

A reception in her honor will be Monday, February 2, 2009, from 5:00pm. until 6:30pmET in the Art Gallery. The public is invited to attend free of charge.

Campbellsville University announces Fall 2008 President's List

Campbellsville University Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Frank Cheatham has announced the academic honors' list for the fall 2008 semester.

The academic honors' list recognizes students who achieve a grade point average of 3.50 or above for the semester with a course load of at least 12 hours.

The fall 2008 academic honors' list includes a total of 474 students, with 163 achieving a 4.0 grade point average and having been named to the President's List. Others who have achieved a grade point average of 3.5-3.99 are named to the Dean's List; there are 311 named to that list.

Organist David Doran at CU on February 3, 2009

David Doran, professor of music emeritus at Jefferson Community College in Louisville, will be the next organist in the Noontime Organ Recital Series at Campbellsville University.

His program is scheduled for Tuesday, February 3, 2009, at 12:20pmET and will run until 12:50pmET. This is a new time for the spring semester concerts.

Freedom Church RD brush fire contained to one acre

The Adair County Fire Dept responded to a grass and brush fire at 2665 Freedom Church Road, today, Thursday, January 22, 2009, to property owned by Gary Badgley.

The fire was contained to about one acre of ground burned.

There were 8 firemen on the scene for around 30 minutes.

Essay: Our 44th President

On January 20th. I like multiplied millions in the United States and around the world, watched with unsuppressed pride as Barak Obama was sworn in as our 44th president. Pride in us as a people, and particularly in us as a nation built upon the premise that All Men Are Created Equal.

To have an African American as president means so much to the African American Community that I can never fathom. I cannot stand in those shoes but we all as citizens stand in the same shoes and I am sure we are all equally proud as Americans.

Patch of ice in curve blamed for KY 49 injury crash in Casey

An injury collision occurred at 10:12pmCT on KY 49, four miles north of Liberty.

Brandy N. Jones, age 18, of Liberty, KY, who was not belted, was operating a 1995 Ford pickup, traveling south on KY 49 when she entered a curve, striking a patch of ice,causing her to loose control of her vehicle, leaving the roadway and overturning. She was transported to Casey County Hospital by EMS where she was treated and released.
