Letter: The Wise men came a bit after Christ was born About: Photo, Glens Fork UMC Church To ColumbiaMagazine.com The photo may have been taken after Christmas but it is symbolic of an act of worship for the Epiphany of the Lord observed within the United Methodist Church. The Epiphany of the Lord is January 6 and is usually celebrated in church worship service on the first Sunday of January in the United Methodist Church. The Epiphany of the Lord actually predates Christmas celebrations among Christians. It's original focus was on the nativity, incarnation, and baptism of Christ. Today the focus is recoginizing the coming of the three wise men (Magi) as they brought gifts to Christ. Despite what is common in our culture with displaying the Christmas nativity scene, the three wise men weren't actually there on the night Christ was born. They came a bit later. s/Rev. Write to us using any Contact/Submit button. -EW To ColumbiaMagazine.com: Making the county wet would bring in more revenue for our town. People are going to drink whether you want them to or not, why pay another town to supply the alcohol when we need the money? Bootleggers have and are a problem for Columbia. If we legalize alcohol, the bootleggers will be shut down and kids will not have access to purchasing it anymore. s/Matt Contact information on file Article continues... click title or click here to read whole article. 2009-01-11 03:19:27 | Comments | Printable version Birthdays and Anniversaries for January 11 Happy Anniversary, Larry and Nancy Foster (2004) | (Updates/Corrections) Happy Birthday, Amber Burton | (Updates/Corrections) Happy Birthday, Boston Cole Coomer (2016) | (Updates/Corrections) Happy Birthday, Carolyn Gaskins | (Updates/Corrections) Happy Birthday, Catie Bilz (1987) | (Updates/Corrections) Happy Birthday, Clayton Dale Janes | (Updates/Corrections) Happy Birthday, Danny Mouser | (Updates/Corrections) Happy Birthday, Deacon Holt Cross | (Updates/Corrections) Happy Birthday, Delaney Rose Cross | (Updates/Corrections) Happy Birthday, Eugene McQueary | (Updates/Corrections) Happy Birthday, Glenn Allen Corbin (1944) | (Updates/Corrections) Happy Birthday, Gracie Wilson | (Updates/Corrections) Happy Birthday, Jonathon Holmes | (Updates/Corrections) Happy Birthday, Kathy Powell | (Updates/Corrections) Happy Birthday, Kenny Tarter | (Updates/Corrections) Happy Birthday, Linda Bragg | (Updates/Corrections) Happy Birthday, Madelyn Grace Hinkle (2012) | (Updates/Corrections) Happy Birthday, Noah Ollery (1999) | (Updates/Corrections) Happy Birthday, Sara Bailey McKinley | (Updates/Corrections) Happy Birthday, Shaunte Smith (1995) | (Updates/Corrections) Happy Birthday, Shirley W.
