Mr. Grider wants details on Paul Revere of Adair Co, KY

Ed Waggener,

I'm hoping you or one of your readers know know about the man who (for a short time) several decades ago wrote for the Adair County News under the non de plume "Paul Revere." His favorite topics were politics (he was a fire-breathing free silver Bryan Democrat), and the trials and tribulations of being married to a red-headed woman.

Thought I'd seen something about him here at ColumbiaMagazine but can't seem to find it now.

Thanks,

Leo Travis Grider
A denizen of the DMZ between Greenwood and Indianapolis proper

This is a question for my first wife or her mother, who claim kin to Paul Revere. I think his name was Joseph Turner, and that he may have been one of the Inroad Turners of Southern Adair County. He also contributed to the Edmonton Herald-News or one of it's predecessors--maybe even the Big Trend News over there. We'll ask Linda Waggener and Geniece Marcum for information, and hope that readers will help fill in on the life, writings, and trials and tribulations of Paul Revere. -ED

Merry Christmas from Del City, OK

Writer laments blackberry cobbler out in Oklahama

To ColumbiaMagazine.com:

I am sure you remember my comments about the food pictures. Well today's was awful: the Blackberry Cobbler. It made me extremely hungry and I don't know where I can find any here for lunch.

The cat on today's site was beautiful. I hope it finds a good home.

I would like to wish you and your staff a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from Del City, OK.

s/Bobby D. Jessie

Letter: Is it legal to soak figs in brandy in Adair County?

Brandy soaked fig tarts

To ColumbiaMagazine.com:

Is it legal to soak figs in brandy in Adair County or do you have to drive outside the county to do such? Could this be considered bootlegging? I suppose if a lady did this it would be a Missduhmeaner!

Everybody got a chance to talk with Santa, from his own little girl to big kids like Dale Hayes, who got a new hairpiece, which Santa remember to bring with him, and Tommy Hardison, who got in a request for a new motorcycle.
