We were scheduled to receive a real "norther'" with up to 12 inches of snow! Brrrrrrr! Kids today don't have a clue what you are talking about - this snow ice cream stuff. Obituary: Ruby Jessie, 86. Columbia merchant Mrs. Jessie was a member of a respected Adair County Family, and of the Columbia Baptist Church. She was a long time merchant in Columbia, KY, in business with her late husband, Larue Jessie, and son D.L. Jessie, Jr., in Jessie's Fruit Market, one of Columbia's longest running businesses. Ruby Jessie, 86, formerly of Columbia, KY, died Friday, December 19, 2008, at 6:03amCT, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow, KY. The funeral service will be Monday, December 22, 2008, at 1:00pmCT, at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home with Bro. C.E. Morrison and Dr. Ted Taylor officiating. Early hours fire destroys Yellow Hammer RD house By Donald Hare, ACFD Public Affairs Officer Special ColumbiaMagazine.com story The Adair County Fire Department responded to a house fire at 3:50amCT, Saturday morning, December 20, 2008, to a residence at 2631 Yellow Hammer Rd off of KY 768 near Fairplay. The fire occurred on property owned by Sam Franklin. Upon firefighters arrival house was totally engulfed in fire and the residence was a total loss.There were 18 firemen on the scene for around 1 hour.
