Letter: BJ Fudge asks CM readers opinion on tax issues

To ColumbiaMagazine.com:

I watched a KET Program recently which featured four Kentucky Legislators. One gentleman on the panel who is an economist continually focused on two ideas. One was that the wealthiest in our state are not shouldering their fair share of the Commonwealth's tax burden and the other is that a sales tax is an unfair tax and should be repealed or lowered.

Santa and Levi

2008-12-16 - GRAWL Animal Shelter, Columbia .
Susan Rarey writes, "looks like ColumbiaMagazine.com is going to have to have a cutest picture contest!!" She also had her little pup's picture taken with Santa Claus this past Saturday at the GRAWL fundraiser. With Santa is Levi, a Beagle/Rat Terrier mix. He was in the Green River animal shelter all by himself when he was just a tiny 4 week old puppy. He is now a happy, loving 16 week old pup and all he asked Santa for was a new chew toy. Susan said she'd like to thank Peg Schaeffer for her help organizing this fundraiser and Pam Livermore who took great pictures and Leslie Wilson who also helped. She sends thanks to everyone who came with their pets to support the good cause which they are already planning to do again next year.

Letter: Reader amused at CM clone expose'

To ColumbiaMagazine.com:

It is cold, wet, muddy, icy and ugly out. We fed 18 horses while we slipped and slid around. Then I read the Magazine online and the blurb about the Larry Smith clone and just laughed and laughed. Thanks for the humor so early in the morning on such a miserable day.

s/Pam DaileyMcNeiley

Thanks. The radio company is still sticking to their story that there is just one Larry Smith. It is hard for us to believe. We just wanted to be the first to expose Shoreline Communications on this one, if we're right. Our suspicions were raised because no one has as much energy as Larry Smith 1, (the Real One on WHVE) and Larry Smith 2 (the bizarro one on the Big Dawg) are purported to possess. If we're wrong about the hypothesis and there is only one Larry Smith, we'll apologize. And, if we're right about the mad scientist at Shoreline, they deserve a Nobel Prize for creating a clone which is also a good guy. Lots of these experiments go awry, especially in the Balkans, you know. -EW
