Letter: Writer was pleased with concert adventure

About: Letter Diamond Rio Concert a $30,000.00 lessonTo ColumbiaMagazine

I am from KY and have visited Columbia on occasion. I heard of this concert, and was so pleased to hear of this adventure. I am upset that some members of the community are so upset. You elect officials to make decisions for you and your community. At one time Columbia was known for their concerts and it sounds like they are trying to make excitement happen in Columbia as it once was. You cannot expect to strike oil on the first try. You have to spend money to make money. In order to make things succeed you have to support them.

Letter: Diamond Rio Concert a $30,000+ lesson

Allen Owens thinks such a huge decision should have been a matter for a public vote, akin to having a local option election for alcoholic beverage sales

To ColumbiaMagazine.com:
>
Doesn't anybody else care???

I had had several conversations with different citizens when our city government made the decision to hire Diamond Rio to play here in Columbia.

Throughout many of these conversations I often heard asked why we the taxpayers were not asked whether or not we wanted to do this.
