If you have a copy of an old Green River Sprite or Lake Cumberland Bugle newspaper which is in the era of the editorship of Barry Beard ( Dorothy Pickett Beard's and the late James Beard's son) we would very much appreciate hearing from you. Two injured in 2 car accident this morning near Liberty, KY

A collision occurred at 6:00amET, Tuesday, December 2, 2008, three miles north of Liberty, KY on WIllow Springs Road.

Stephanie Means, 23, Liberty, KY, was operating a 1998 Honda Civic, traveiing north on Willow Springs Road and lost control of the vehicle when she met a 1998 Chevy Pickup, operated by Randall Wilson, 38, Liberty, KY, who southbound on Willow Springs Road. The means Honda struck the Wilson vehicle.

Stephanie Means was treated and released at Ephraim McDowell Hospital in Danville, KY. A passenger, Ashley Means, 18, Liberty, KY, was also treated and released. Both occupants were wearing seat belts at the time of the accident.

Randall Wilson was belted and was not injured. Brian Vest, 25, a passenger in the Wilson vehicle was also belted and not injured.

The crash was investigated by Trooper Mike Woodrum of Kentucky State Police Post 15, Columbia, KY.

Thanks to all who supported Tim & Ashley Bottoms benefit

CARDS of THANKS

A benefit was held this past weekend for Tim & Ashley Bottoms. Tim suffered 2nd and 3rd degree burns over most of his body from an outside water stove accident a few weeks ago, while his wife Ashley is still recovering from injuries she received in a car wreck about a year ago. Tim has since had skin graft surgery and finally came home yesterday.

Many donations were received from local businesses and individuals. We would like to sincerely thank everyone that donated items for the silent auction, donated food or helped in any way.

We are truly blessed to have so many good people who understand the true meaning of giving unselfishly.God Bless everyone and remember the true meaning of Christmas!

Ron Heath installed as President Elect of CAC Chamber

New officers were installed at the December 1, 2008, Columbia-Adair County Christmas party hosted by Lindsey Wilson College the Roberta Cranmer Dining Center.

The President Elect is Ron Heath. Ron Heath will serve as President Elect for 1 year, then on January 1, 2010 will become President.

Donna Stotts will continue as President for another year, along with Mindy Smith as Treasurer.

The new secretary will be Amy Thompson, who is also a new member of the board of directors.

New board members are Amy Thompson, Roger Meadows, Brady Buttonand Sheila Hare.

Koenig-Roach engagement announced

Trisha and Aaron

Mr. Bennie Koenig of Louisville, Kentucky and Mrs. Sheila Owens of Columbia, Kentucky announce the engagement of their daughter, Miss Trisha Dawn Koenig, to Aaron Nicholas Roach, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dean M. Roach, also of Columbia.

The couple will be wed on December 27th at the Columbia church of Christ.

Trisha and Aaron are graduates of Adair County High School and are employed at Amazon.

Rural Hwy Chief says $94,500 okayed for Gradyville span

Adair County CJE Ann Melton has received word from Kentucky Rural Highway Commissioner B.D. Wilson that Governor Steven Beshear has approved $94,500 in emergency road funds to replace the bridge on Country Club Road.

The Adair County Road Department has set out warning cones to reduce traffic on the span to one lane at a time use.

The bridge will be the fifth built since Judge Melton took office on January 1, 2006. Others replaced were at Grassy Springs, Short Creek, Creek Bend Road, and at the Janice Holt and Henry Giles House.

The new bridge will be built by the Adair County Road Department, as were the earlier bridges.

LWC Men's Soccer falls to Mt. Vernon Nazarene 1-0

FRESNO, Calif. -- The Lindsey Wilson College men's soccer team's season ended Monday afternoon with a 1-0 loss to Mount Vernon Nazarene (OH) University in the NAIA National Tournament second round at Ramirez Field on Fresno Pacific University's campus.

Despite outshooting the Cougars 29-6 for the match, the No. 3-seeded Blue Raiders were unable to score against MVNU goalkeeper Alex Stout. Stout finished with nine saves en route to the shutout win.
