With gun season over, Adair 2008 deer harvest totals 876 In neighboring Green County, 985 deer reported as of November 27, 2008. CM compiled chart for 7-county area below. As with all CM articles, click on headline for complete story, with photos and charts, if any From Kentucky Fish & Wildlife Frankfort, Ky. - Kentucky's modern gun deer season is now over statewide, tipping the total harvest past 108,000 deer. Even with several days of archery and crossbow hunting left this month, the November harvest of more than 88,000 deer has already topped every season but 2004. "I thought we might kill 115,000 to 116,000 deer this season, but I think we're going to do better than that," said David Yancy, a wildlife biologist in the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources' big game program. "If it's a pretty typical December muzzleloader season, that'll help us toward 120,000." A Memorable Hinman Thanksgiving -- Circa 1933 This wonderful short story, "A Memorable Hinman Thanksgiving," was discovered for us by Mr. Robert Stone, who obtained permission from the author to print the story in ColumbiaMagazine.com. It's copyright 2005, Chuck Hinman. The author lives in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.
