Remembering Mr. James. He was a great person About posting: Note on death of Mr. James Dohoney That is correct information (about the death of Mr. James Dohoney after he left the Hotel Miller Fire in 1977). He did pass away in his car after he helped people get out of the hotel. My family used to live and work on his farm. He was a great person. The first money that I made was on his farm hauling in hay, I was 8 years old. Got to drive one of his International Super H tractors. Man that was GREAT!s/Dale Smith 2008-11-26 10:34:36 | Comments | Printable version | See topic Local History

LWC students help with Christian Life Center Thanksgiving With photo. Click on headline of this and any CM story for full text plus photos, if any By Duane Bonifer, LWC Director of Public Affairs Some Lindsey Wilson College students made sure that members of the community had an opportunity to enjoy a Thanksgiving dinner. Students from LWC Freshman Advisor Laura Burwash's "Freshman Year Experience" recently helped set up for last Sunday's community Thanksgiving meal, held at the Christian Life Center. The students started last week by moving more than 100 chairs and more than 20 tables from Columbia Baptist to the Christian Life Center. They returned on Sunday to set up the tables and chairs and then decorated the tables for the meal. After the meal concluded, the students reload trailers up with tables and chairs and helped take them back to Columbia Baptist Church. "It was long and tiring day, but a great way to show our thanks to all those who have helped us along our way and give back," Burwash said. 2008-11-26 06:23:56 | Comments | Printable version

1977 Hotel Fire: Relative sends note on death of Mr. Dohoney In response to: All five fatalities in the 1977 Hotel Fire We received this clarification on the death of Mr. James Dohoney, following the Hotel Fire of 1977: James Dohoney did not die in the fire. He had a downstairs apartment that had a door which opened onto Greensburg Street. He got out of the hotel but went back in a few times helping get people out who were upstairs. He had a heart attack and died. I think he was in his car at the time of his death. We appreciate the additional information. 2008-11-26 04:48:36 | Comments | Printable version | See topic Local History
