ELDRIDGE DYKES has decorated the whole hilllside at his place on KY 900, west of Glens Fork, KY, with a dazling lighted display including some 24,000 lights. It is on display every night starting at 5:30pmCT until 9:30pmCT. Visitors are welcome to pull into the drive to watch the displays. The Dykes start work on the display in early October each year and log over 300 hours.

Scenic Adair Co., KY: Quilt Barn at Gertrude Browning Place



2008-11-22 - Louie B. Nunn Parkway - Photo By Ed Waggener. This Quilt Barn face shows on the Louie B. Nunn Parkway on the Gertrude Browning farm. Besides motorist, the quilt pattern provides culture to the cows on the farm, located between the LBN, KY 61, and KY 80. The houses behind and between the barns are on KY 80. The brick home is the Judge R.L. and Marsha Walker home, and the road in the upper right hand corner is Will Walker Lane.

Pottery demonstrations at HRS during Artists Open House

Christmas in Columbia event; click on headlines for complete stories in CM

On the weekend of Christmas in Columbia, there will be demonstrations at Jeff and Henrietta Scott's Highland Raku Studio, located at 7917 Burkesville Road (KY 61), Columbia, KY, in the Sparksville Community of Adair County.

The demonstration on Saturday, December 7, 2008, will feature Steve Scherer. Donnie Perry will demonstrate throwing the wheel on both Friday, December 6 and Saturday, December 7, 2008. Henrietta Scott also plans to have a pottery firing demonstration during the event.

Katherine Michele Alexander of Burkesville, Cumberland County, KY, was awarded the 2008 Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital Volunteer Auxiliary Scholarship to attend Somerset Community College.

Alexander is the daughter of Teia Alexander of Bowling Green and Chris and Diane Alexander of Burkesville.

Mrs. Neat was a member of a large, respected Adair County family. She is survived by 16 brothers and sisters. She was employed at Murakami in Campbellsville, KY

Creative Ministries of LWC to participate in Old Concord service

Two vehicle injury crash 2 miles south of Jamestown

The driver of one vehicle involved in a two car collision on KY 619, two miles south of Jamestown, KY, suffered minor injuries.

The accident occurred at 3:00pmCT, Friday, November 21, 2008 when a westbound 1993 Chevy operated by Bradley Helm, 25, Russell Springs, KY, was traveling westbound on KY 619 and turned in front of an eastbound 2005 Pontiac operated by Janet Stearns, 37, also of Russell Springs.

Over correction factor in Monroe County crash

An injury collision occurred on November 21, 2008 at approximately 2:15pmCT, on County House Roard in Monroe County.

Charles Carter, age 87, of Tompkinsville, was traveling eastbound in a blue 1992 GMC 4door on County House Road. The vehicle dropped off the right side of the roadway, leaving the travel portion of the roadway.
