Feedback: How about some patience on the Road Eighty Bridge

To the editor, ColumbiaMagazine.com

May I add my two cents worth on the subject of the east 80 bridge? I'm 47 years old and remember when I was 3 or 4 years old not liking to cross the old East 80 bridge because of all the noise the vehicle would make crossing those diagionally placed bridge joints. Remember, this was before the days of radial tires and vehicles having lots of sound-deadening insulation.

While the detour for the last several months has inconvenienced me and my family as well as others who must use the road and could potentially be a very negative problem in the event of an emergency, I think we need to all be patient with the contractors, as long as they meet their deadline, and hope for a better crossing in a few weeks.

Remember the bridge in Minnapolis, Minnesota, last summer?

I also remember in the last few months of the old bridge's use again dreading crossing it after its condition was reported to the public.

Adair County Spring Cleanup, Picnic is April 12

Please remind everyone about our Spring Cleanup this weekend. Anyone wanting to participate please be at the Annex Building on Saturday, April 12, 2008, at 8:00am for breakfast.

Please use extreme caution when traveling in the Holmes Bend area, Saturday, because numerous children and adults will be picking up trash on roadsides. Watch for the orange vests!

We have several prizes to be given away at Mt. Carmel during lunch, which will be cooked by Johnnie Jones.

There are hidden treasures along the roadsides which are to be cleaned.

Thanks.
