Fiscal Court takes no action, an apparent win for dispatcher

Decision to simply adjourn after closed door hearing is tacit victory for Dispatcher Robin Slater, who agreed that the result of the meeting was good one for her. Though court was tight lipped about the the matter, afterward, outcome of meeting apparently not what 9-1-1 management had wanted.

By Ed Waggener

The Adair County Fiscal Court met om am Emergency Called Meeting, from 5:00pm until 7:14pmCT, with all but approximately 2 minutes in executive (closed) session, after which they voted twice, once to go back into regular (open) session, the second to adjourn.

The decision was an apparent victory for an employee of the Adair County 9-1-1 Dispatch Center, Robin Slater, who was there with her step-father, Bill Trautwein. Robin Slater agreed after the meeting she was pleased with the decision, but said no more before going into a post-meeting conference with Judge Melton.

Gas Price Drumbeat: Why is same gas 20 lower in Glasgow?

Ed,

My intent is not to drive to anywhere to buy gas that would be ridiculous. My question is and has been why is gas always 10-20 cents a gallon higher than the surrounding counties. When a certain brand is 20 cents less in Glasgow for example, my question is why I just don't understand why ours is always higher. I still have no answer to the question.

s/Thanks,
Gerald Doss

(ADV) The Full Lynskey: Another true work of art

Just as a Jimmy Robertson mandolin from Goodluck, KY, is genuine art, so is this Chattanooga, TN, built bicycle now in stock at Main Street Bikes.

By Tom Waggener
Owner, Main Street Bikes

Western Kentucky University was kind enough to grant me an undergraduate degree in Graphic Design about 10 years ago. That worked out so well that I returned in 2005 to get a Masters of Arts in Folk studies.

During my 6 years of study in seemingly unrelated topics, there was much discussion about the nature, and definition, of art. Several thousand dollars of student loans later, I am still lacking in a decent, working definition.

How to mail to Adair Countians who are deployed to war zones

Updated 2008-03-29: SSG. Nobles, William D.
Support for Adair Countians deployed to war zones in Iraq and Afghanistan is important. Mail call mean all the difference to those on duty half way around the world. The list below is begun with addresses sent to us by Pam Kermeen, mother of LCpl Daniel Kermeen.

For those who want to use e-mail, delivered as a hard copy letter, there is Moto Mail. Melissa Taylor, mother of Cpl Kris Taylor, now deployed to Iraq, sent the web address, www.motomail.us, for those wishing to use that method to contact troops in Iraq or Afghanistan.

Other names will be added as received. Please use the Contact/Submit Button at the end of the article.

It is our hope that civic organizations, churches, and caring individuals will remember to write and send packages often to the Adair Countians serving in Iraq and Afghanistan.
