Obituary: Richard Charles Wheeler, 64

Mr. Wheeler was the head of a large family. He leaves 33 living descendants. He was a graduate of Lindsey Wilson College and a retired factory worker.

Richard Charles Wheeler, 64, passed away Sunday, March 2, 2008, at University of Louisville Hospital.

He was born November 18, 1943, in Jeffersonville, IN, the son of N.S. and Mildred Wheeler. He lived in Fairplay, KY.

Fatal accident occurs at KY 80 Bridge construction site

POLICE REPORTS

A Columbia, KY, woman was pronounced dead by the Adair County Deputy Coroner at 8:43 am this morning, Tuesday, March 4, 2008, following a crash on KY East 80 1/2 mile east of Columbia at the KY 80 bridge construction site.

According to Kentucky State Police, the driver, Bridget Karnes, 44, Columbia, KY was operating a 2007 Chevy Avei, traveling west on KY 80, and failed to stop at the bridge construction site.

KSP POST 15, Columbia, KY Feb. 2008 Activity Report

During the month of February 2008, there were 50 traffic accidents investigated by the State Police working in the Post 15 area in the 11 counties of Adair, Casey, Clinton, Cumberland, Green, Marion, Metcalfe, Monroe, Russell, Taylor and Washington.

But for Adair County native and Lindsey Wilson College senior Alex Bailey, this semester is an opportunity for him to savor his final semester of undergraduate life.

Driver injured in collision near Yosemite

A Kings Mountain, KY driver was treated and released at Casey County Hospital after losing control of her 2003 Chevrolet on KY 510, four miles north of Yosemite in Casey County, KY.

The accident occurred on Monday, March 3, 2008, at 3:30pmET/2:30pmCT.

GIGO Diary, 2008-03-03: Most waste recycled, composted

ADAIR COUNTY GETS SERIOUS ABOUT RECYCLING!: Thanks to Compost program, the Tucker's Station Garden is costing only hard work. Compost comes from material most put in trash, but it has a useful purpose here. After composting and recycling, only a small bucket of waste from Monday, March 3, 2008, was destined for the Adair County landfill.

Last evening, Monday, March 3, 2008 approximately 800 'kids' of all ages, children through adults, joined in the 7th Annual Read Adair County that was held at Adair County Elementary School as part of Read Across America to celebrate the birthday of Dr. Seuss.
