A prodigal Jack Russell pup is back RELATED STORY There's a half-happy ending to the missing Jack Russell/Beagle mixed puppies situation. One of them is back, and we're happy, though CM only deserves credit for moral support. A note on the sad side: The owners are about to give up hope for the other one. Kim Harris wrote, late last night to say, "Thank you for running the ad for the dogs. We have one of them back and feel like that's the only one we will get. We have looked several times in the same area where the other one was, with no luck. Gas Prices are unexpected highlight of City Council Meeting Mayor Pat Bell, in response to Councillor Dean question, says he and Judge Melton have a plan to fight the gas price differential; ironically, the issue arose after the Council hears riveting report on the value of tourism to Adair County--but a report which didn't itself address the negative impact of local gasoline prices on the tourist economy; unanimous Council vote gives Chamber one-time increase of $5,000 for 2008; uses of money by Chamber more sharply defined. John Ford re-appointed to Columbia-Adair County Airport Board. Mayor announces safety grant receipt, delivers invitation to Council to attend Fiscal Court Meeting tonight. "It had a four inch stream of pure oil, no water," Joe Moore, Debbie's father said. "They're saying it could be a 300-barrel a day well," The farm is located along the Louie B. Nunn Parkway, four miles from the edge of Columbia on Willie Nell Road, a spur of Jones Chapel Road. The Count, Road Eighty Bridge Closing: 100 days Today is the 100th Day since the Bridge on KY E80, Russell Road, Columbia, KY, was closed on October 1, 2007. One sad story: A high school basketball team from Garrard County came through Columbia recently. Their party had travelled Highway 80 from Russell Springs, not knowing the bridge was out. After negotiating their way through Green Hills, Fairground Street, and Columbia, they stopped for breakfast, but not at their original destination, the Circle R, the coach's favorite Columbia restaurant. When they had arrived there, the restaurant building remained, but it was a pile of rubble left in the clean-up process by the new owners, after the building had been a fire wrecked hull for nearly six months. (Since then, the lot has been completely leveled and cleaned.) A Russell Creek Bridge downstream, at Kemp, was started at the same time as the East 80 bridge and took less than 80 calendar days for replacement. That bridge was built by Adair County Contractor Garrison Construction Co. Traffic is flowing across the Adair-Green County line there now.
