SCP Christmas Card reminds forester of trees needs

Trees along Burkesville Street looked like trees, not tall bushes. Trees were topped; major need was prudent pruning

South Central Printing Christmas Card

By Billy Joe Fudge
Special ColumbiaMagazine.com story

We have progressed in many ways, but in this picture there is a great example of one way we have regressed.

Look how stately the trees are standing along the street. They have not been topped. Therefore, the trees still look like trees and not big bushes.

Colonel Wm. Casey sends letter about heat home to parents

The following letter was forwarded to ColumbiaMagazine.com by Principal Patty Jones. A copy of the letter is going home with CWC students this afternoon, Thursday, January 3, 2007

Dear Parents/Guardians:

We want to clarify the heating situation at Col. Wm. Casey.

Before we left for Christmas break we began having trouble with the boiler system at CWC. Maintenance worked on it and also called in an outside repair service. A part that was required to get our heating system working at full capacity was needed. While we did (and do) have heat in the building it was not up to full capacity. However, at the time the temperature in the building was adequate.

Lots of giggling girls were in attendance at Alayna Willis's 8th birthday party on December 26, 2007, at the home of Alayna's parents, Jeff & Patricia Willis, on Jones Chapel Road.

Many people will ask us, "Isn't the 26th of December a tough day to have a party?"

Remembering: Delmer Upchurch

To ColumbiaMagazine.com:

What a wonderful article about Mr. Upchurch.

I have very fond memories of going to "Russell Dry Goods" and buying clothes during my childhood days. Mr. Upchurch was always so pleasant and such a gentlemen. When my parents sold the farm and moved into town, they bought Mr. Upchurch's parents' house on Guardian Street.

What a sad loss for everyone that knew him.

Thank you,
