The Adair County Sheriff's Department shut down Green Hills Road for a short time because of a crash at 4:48amCT, this morning, Thursday, December 27, 2007, on Green Hills Road, currently a major artery because of the Road Eighty East bridge replacement underway.

Center on Aging, Salvation Army get extra Christmas Help

LWC students, aided by IGA, Wal-Mart, and Sav-A-Lot assemble, donate food for Christmas

Roxye Sidebottom and Leslie Brown, education students at Lindsey Wilson College, made food baskets to deliver to needy families at Christmas as a part of a Leadership Project.

The project began with donations from IGA, Wal-Mart, and Sav-A-Lot of Adair County.

Adair County Hospital District agenda, December 27, 2007

The Adair County Hospital District Board of Trustees, governing body for Westlake Regional Hospital and subsidiaries, meets this evening, at 6:30pm CT. Thursday, December 27, 2007, in the Board Meeting room at the Hospital.

The 11-item agenda includes an update on the WRH New Expansion project, presentation of financial statements, an accounts receivable report, a review of bids for employee Health insurance, a review of hospital statistics, and a report on charge off of delinquent accounts.

National Treasure 2 will be held over at Columbian Theatre

The Columbian Theatre will be holding over National Treasure 2: Book of Secrets It is rated PG-13 and will play nightly at 6 and 8 pm and Sunday at 2 and 4 pm only.

The theatre will be open New Year's Eve, December 31, 2007, and New Year's Day, January 1, 2008.

Adair Fiscal Court approves 2nd reading, budget amendment

With a five members present the Adair County Fiscal Court was barely seated before approving the second reading of a budget amendment, related to the acceptance of $499,262.74, a grant for improvements in the Adair County Road system, made in the last month of the Governor Ernie Fletcher administration.

Two treated, released following Christmas night crash on KY 61

Neither driver was injured, but two passengers in one vehicle involved in a two vehicle crash Christmas night were treated and released at Jane Todd Crawford Hospital, Greensburg.

The collision occurred, according to Kentucky State Police, when Megan Coffey, 17, Columbia, KY, operating a 2001 GMC truck, traveling west on Long Hunters Camp Road, disregarded a stop sign and entered the path of a 2007 Chevrolet operated by Jackie Perkins, 39, Elkhorn, KY, who was traveling north on KY 61. The Perkins vehicle was struck in the rear side.

The Adair County Board of Education meeting Thursday, December 20, 2007, drew the largest public outpouring in recent times, as the board's announcement that it would consider, in item #23, "Budget issues such as transportation, Dental insurance, and all-day Kindergarten."

It was the first item which jam packed the inadequate Adair County Board of Education conference room.

"Can rumors be stopped that boosters are going to have to raise money for trips," David Martin asked when the floor was opened to public comment on the agenda item.
