Stolen Michigan semi spotted, recovered by Columbia, KY police

CM POLICE REPORTS
Columbia Police Department (CPD) Officers Roy and Luttrell, Chief Mark D. Harris, GPS tracking system, and excellent police coordination bring trip home to sweet Alabama to a dramatic halt on Jamestown Street in Columbia, KY. Dismissed driver was just taking stuff home, planning to let Con-way Freight get truck there. A 2007 Volvo was picked up by Lynn's Service Center, taken to a secret site, somewhere in the 406.84 square miles which make up vast Adair Co, KY. Con-way will now recover semi several hundred miles closer to Con-way homebase than Alabama. Driver spent night at Adair County Regional Jail. Detailed story follows:

The trip home to Alabama driver of a semi truck reported stolen in Michigan by Con-way Freight Company was ended by alert Columbia, KY, Police yesterday at around noon, Thursday, December 20, 2007.

Lebanon, KY, driver loses control, hits embankment

CM POLICE REPORTS
A 38-year-old Lebanon, KY, driver, Kim Glasscock, was treated and released following a one-vehicle crash yesterday, December 20, 2007.

Glasscock lost control of a 1996 Chevrolet 4-door traveling east on McElroy Pike near Lebanon. in a curve and struck an embankment.

Sports Roundup: Adair High Boys win 1st game of Holiday Classic

Adair County's winning streak is now up to seven after winning the first round game game by 15 points over Cawood yesterday afternoon.

The Kentucky top-20 team is exceeding high preseason expectations with continued excellent play in the Holiday Classic at London, KY.

Dr. Donna Irwin receives faculty excellence award at CU

Dr. Donna Irwin, assistant professor of education at Campbellsville University, is the recipient of the 2007 Non-Tenured Faculty Excellence Award.

"Two of the many things I appreciate about Dr. Irwin are her can do attitude and contagious smile," said Dr. Frank Cheatham upon presenting her with the award.

Deadline for Robert C. Byrd Honors Scholarships is Feb. 1, 2008

Kentucky high school seniors may apply for a Robert C. Byrd Honors Scholarship before February 1, 2008. The scholarships, worth up to $1,500 a year for four years of college, are administered by the Kentucky Higher Education Assistance Authority (KHEAA).

Seniors may apply through Zip Access at www.kheaa.com. To apply, sign in to Zip Access with your user ID and password. Those who have not used Zip Access before should register to create a user ID and password.
