Today, Fri. Dec. 14, 2007: Congratulations - Bonnie, Les

Congratulations to Bonnie Cheng and Les Herbst for their extraordinary achievements in being selected for the All-State Band. And, as always: Thank you, Mr. Allen, for all you do in bringing honor and fame to Adair County.
You didn't have to be an Adair Countian to get a lump in your throat: For those who missed the Inaugural Parade, Doug Sapp, who was there, says that despite the large number of high school bands in the long parade, "Adair County clearly stood out above all the rest."

Major C-AC Milestone: Water plant online target Jan. 8, 2008

Report on Columbia-Adair County Water Commission board meeting December 13, 2007
Comment: Columbia-Adair County water plant board demonstrates, in hugely successful way, what full city-county merger might accomplish, which many advocate, but which hardly anyone will address-CM

By Ed Waggener

The target date for the new $14 million Columbia/Adair Water Commission Plant to be producing water through the system is now January 8, 2008. That was the word from Plant General Manager Lennie Stone at yesterday afternoon's meeting of the Commission's board , Thursday, December 13, 2007.

For the Columbia-Adair County Water Commission Board, overseeing the project, it will be quite a moment of satisfaction. The plant is the culmination of a dream started over five years ago, by a group which envisioned a huge project and had the patience, political genius, the business acumen, the nerve and the stamina to pull it off.

Marshall Loy, the commission's attorney, said as much yesterday. "This is a big project," he said. "It's taken a lot of skill and a lot of work. The people who have guided this project to this point deserve more credit than most people who haven't watch the process could ever imagine."
