Obituary: Opal L. Nankivell, 88 member Campbellsville UMC

Mrs. Nankivell was a retired Central Kentucky educator and was a member of a respected North Adair County family.

Opal L. Nankivell, 88, Bledsoe, KY, formerly of the Pellyton Community in Adair County, and also of Campbellsville, KY, passed away Sunday, December 9, 2007, at the home of her daughter.

The funeral service will be Thursday, December 13, 2007, at 1:00pm at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg ST, Columbia, KY, with Rev. Ed Henry the officiating clergy. Interment will be in Pellyton Cemetery. Visitation will be after 4:00pm Wednesday, December 12, 2007, at the Funeral Home.

Alesha Compton runner-up KY Outstanding Farm Bureau Youth

Alesha Compton, Adair County High student, won second place in Outstanding Farm Bureau Youth competition at the Kentucky Farm Bureau annual meeting held at the Galt House in Louisville on December 6, 2007. Alesha competed against 10 other district winners from across the state of Kentucky.

Clinton driver airlifted following 1-vehicle crash

A Clinton county man was transferred to the University of Kentucky Medical Center following a one-vehicle crash yesterday afternoon on KY 350.

Tommy E. Phillips, 31, Albany, was westbound in a 1993 Ford when he lost control, left the roadway, struck a tree, then crossed the roadway striking a tree on the other side.

LWC to graduate 247 in winter commencement Saturday

Lindsey Wilson College will graduate the first half of the Class of 2007-08 on Saturday morning. The college will award a total of 247 degrees - 176 undergraduate degrees and 71 graduate degrees.

The commencement address will be given by Hall of Fame journalist Al Smith, the former host of Kentucky Educational Television's Comment on Kentucky.

The ceremony will begin at 10:30amCT in Biggers Sports Center.

Inauguration Day, Governor Steve Beshear, Frankfort, KY
City offices, schools, county government with the exception of PVA and Circuit Court Clerk's office will have business as usual.Most state offices will be closed on the State Inauguration Day Tuesday, December 11, 2007. Governor-elect Steve Beshear will be inaugurated on that day. At the courthouse, both the Adair County PVA office and Circuit Court office will be closed.
