Jim Fugitte with Kentucky built, revolutionary wind turbine

2007-11-28 - Cranmer Dining Center - Photo By Duane Bonifer.
WIND ENERGY CEO SPEAKS AT LINDSEY WILSON COLLEGE: Wind Energy Corp. CEO Jim Fugitte holds "Little WEC," a SMALL SCALE prototype of the revolutionary wind turbine his company is developing. The actual wind-harvesting machine is six meters tall, and it weighs about 600 pounds, much smaller and affordable than conventional propeller-based wind machines located in Western U.S. states. Because of its relatively small size, the machine can be placed on top of business buildings and sports stadiums and arenas to help reduce energy costs. Fugitte spoke about his company to more than 70 Lindsey Wilson College math and science students, professors and guests on Tuesday night in the Roberta D. Cranmer Dining & Conference Center. Wind Energy Corp., which has offices in Morgantown and Elizabethtown, is expected to bring almost 300 jobs to its Butler County, KY, plant by the end of 2012. The subsidy-free wind-harvesting machines that Wind Energy Corp. will produce will change the world of business, developing countries and the environment, Fugitte said. For July 13, 2007, story about Jim Fugitte plant in Morgantown, Click here

Crafty Green County hunters up 3 deer on us

Latest rankings below

Adair County has lost deer hunt bragging rights this morning, as Green County hunters spurted to a 3 deer lead this morning.

The score is now 866-863, but it ain't over yet. Reports do tend to trickle in for weeks after the season is over, and there are still parts of that left, including muzzleloading, crossbow, bow and arrow, and kids days, all of which are areas where the superior outdoors skills of Adair County hunters should come through.

Letter: Michael always followed the cranes

About: "Adair County is next point on whooping crane migration route"
To ColumbiaMagazine.com:

This article reminds me of Michael. He followed the crane trip every year. He went over to Taylor County airport and met with the plane that travels way out front before the leading flight came through. He would go everyday to the site on the internet to see just exactly where they were and how much progress they made. He went out to the farm here in Adair County and got to see their lift off from there. I remember being in that old Volkswagen van out by McCammish Manufacturingto see them pass over early on the cold mornings. It was a real interest to him.
