KY Pride Fund completes $9 million old C-ville dump cleanup

Environmental remediation of the old Campbellsville Landfill, a $9 million project financed by the Kentucky Pride Fund, is complete.

Measures were taken to reduce or eliminate releases of leachate to the environment. Leachate is water that collects contaminants as it seeps through the landfill.

Gas Price Drumbeat: Spoke too soon

I mentioned yesterday our gas prices had come down. On the way home they had gone back up.

In checking towns around us that was not the case. Just around us prices range from $2.73 up to $2.86. That is the same brand as we have here in Columbia. Here we go again raising gas prices for no reason.

O, I forgot about the gas being in short supply here in Columbia.s/Gerald Doss

Columbia Police make drug related arrest

Columbia Police made a drug related arrest after a traffic stop at 8:40pmCT, last night, Monday, November 26, 2007, on Campbellsville Street.

Ricky Vaughn, 43, Dunnville, KY, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance 1st degree (cocaine), and possession of drug parphernalia, 1st offense.

Vaughn was lodged in the Adair County Regional Jail by Officer Jamie Cole assisted by Officer Jr. Murphy.

ACHS Football banquet was held at Lindsey Wilson dining hall last night, with a big crowd in attendance.

It was a farewell to the team night for seniors Wade Beard, Derek Cape, Logan Darnell, Tyler Knight, Kyle Loy, Daniel Morgan, Jordan Moss, and Kris Stephens. They receivedflags from Coach Teague and his wife Stacey.

Kentucky gets $500,000 to make colleges more adult-friendly

The Council on Postsecondary Education will receive $500,000 from Lumina Foundation for Education for a statewide effort to increase the number of working-age adults with college degrees. The Kentucky Adult Learner Initiative will include a statewide review of policies that affect adult students and will grant each public four-year institution $50,000 for plans to create or enhance adult-friendly policies and services.

    Remembering the awful memories of her hometown being bombed and how she as a young girl had to help rescue the injured was emotional for everyone there.
