Major new oil wells hit on KY 704 By Ed Waggener ColumbiaMagazine.com story A new well on the Chattin Chowing farm, Hopewell Acres, on KY 704 between Columbia and Burkesville, may be the best ever hit in the area and is adding focus to Northern Cumberland and Southern Adair County oil exploration, according to reports. The latest well, Chowning #4, put on pump on November 15, is said to be pumping 85 barrels a day. The well was drilled by Jimmy Reliford of Sparksville, for Hart Oil Company.
