ACMS to honor Proficient, Distinguished CATS scorers

Adair County Middle School will be honoring all students in 7th and 8th grade who scored proficient or distinguished on the spring 2007 CATS test on Wednesday, November 21, at 1:00pmCT. Certificates will be awarded as well as drawings for cash prizes. Everyone is invited to attend and show the ACMS students how proud we are of their accomplishments. -ALMA RICH, Principal.

Driver taken to Russell Co. Hospital following Elkhorn RD crash

On Sunday, November 18, 2007, at approximately 12:30pmCT, the Adair County Sheriff's Department responded to an injury accident approximately 14 miles from Columbia on Elkhorn Road in Adair County.

The accident occurred when a 2005 Ford Taurus being operated by 74 year old Lyda Dickinson of Louisville was traveling east on Elkhorn Road amd dropped of the shoulder of the road, hit a concrete culvert, and then struck a tree.

Adair County County Marching Band wins National Championship

ACHS Marching Band has now won title two years running. Photos, links to other National Class A BOA Championship story below

The Adair County High School Marching Band won the 2007 Class A National Championship at the Bands of America Grand National Championships at the RCA Dome in Indianapolis this past weekend.

This time, the victory was not only for Adair County, it was a major victory for the State of Kentucky as well.

Though victories have some with regularity this season as in the past 26 years under Director Tim Allen, Adair Countians never tire of coming out to greet them, to welcome them home.

Driver airlifted to UL after KY 152 crash Sunday afternoon

Kentucky State Police Post 15, Columbia, KY, Trooper John Adams investigated a single vehicle accident one mile east of Springfield, KY, on KY 152, which resulted in the driver of the vehicle being flown to the University of Louisville Hospital.

The crash occurred at 4:10pm, Sunday, November 18, 2007.

Passing attempt results in 3-car crash, injuries to 4

Russell Springs resident airlifted to UK Hospital following crash on Hale's Highway

An attempt to pass another car resulted in a three-car crash, and one driver being airlifted to the University of Kentucky Hospital in Lexington, KY.

The crashes occurred yesterday afternoon at 1:00pmCT, Sunday, November 18, 2007 on HWY 379 (Hale's Highway), approximately 8 miles south of Russell Springs, KY.

He was a member of a respected Montpelier area family

Bruce Turner, 57, 1125 Cabin Fork Creek Road, Russell Springs, KY, passed away suddenly, Saturday afternoon, 2007, at his home.

The funeral service will be Tuesday, November 20, 2007, at 1:00pm at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY, with Bro. Stanley Watson the officiating clergy.
